Job Description

Job Goal: Adult Diploma Program (ADP) Assessor is a part time position responsible for coordination of services for special populations of adult learners in completion of their adult high school diploma. The Assessor will ensure consistent delivery of a high quality curriculum to students that meet the High Schools standards of rigor through flexible programs and instructional models that serve the needs of those who seek an adult diploma.

Through the application of best practices of adult learning and credit recovery the ADP Assessor will assure that all programqualified students have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma.

Qualifications:

  • Licenses Registrations or Certifications:
  • Masters Degree (in teaching/curriculum instruction preferred)
  • MA Teacher Certification
  • Two years of experience teaching adult learners
  • Experience with computerbased programs and Internet resources

Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • Development and Implementation of a rigorous and responsive competency based Adult Diploma program
  • Conduct intake interview and registration process of new and returning students. Determine an individual adult education plan and recommend appropriate course/classes for meeting graduation requirements.
  • Provide direction for the adult diploma program by planning implementing curricular instructional and assessment programs. Work/collaborate with principal high school department heads Full Circle and SCALE and district personnel to review progress needs and goals of the adult diploma programs. Conduct and support the student advisement process with other Somerville High School (SHS) staff.
  • Develop and implement course offerings for the Adult Diploma program in collaboration with other school and district educators and support staff.
  • Conduct orientation/information meetings for new and prospective Adult Diploma students.
  • Collaborate with external partners (e.g. Harvard University) in delivery of ADP program that serves this population. Some on site time in Cambridge required.
  • Supervise the maintenance and confidentiality of school records.
  • Monitor academic progress of students by documenting and recording credits earned through classes and life experience.
  • Administer and review diagnostic competency and proficiency tests and monitor attendance
  • Provide tutorial assistance in all subject areas to students on as needed basis
  • Job requires some computer use including communicating via email. The general office and classroom environment has air conditioning and fluorescent lighting
  • Perform other jobrelated duties as assigned
