Job Description
Duties:
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the pool area; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintains a high standard of customer service.
- Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
- Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
- Maintains effective positive relationships with the members participants and other staff.
- Knows understands and consistently applies safety rules policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
- Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
- Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
- Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
- Understand and promote all YMCA programs values.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 16
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer AED Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen
- Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent preferred
- Ability to maintain certificationlevel of physical and mental readiness
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards

*Level 2 background clearance and 10panel drug test required.
