Job Description

Introduction

THIS IS ANEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel anyexisting list and may last approximately one year but can be extended.

SupplementalQuestionnaire and Portfolio:A properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire and aportfolio must be submitted with each application. Details of theportfolio submission are included in question number 6 of theSupplemental Questionnaire. Failure to submit the Application SupplementalQuestionnaire or Portfolio by the last day for filing will result indisqualification.

DESCRIPTION




The Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA) is comprised of 2400 men and women working collectively and in partnership with communitybased organizations to serve the needs of the community. Services are provided through four departments: Administration and Finance Adult and Aging Services Children and Family Services and Workforce and Benefits learn more about the Alameda County Social Services Agency please visit the website at supervision produces and coordinates promotional informational andeducational materials; incorporates graphic design writing and photography asneeded to achieve desired objectives; coordinates the production of print anddigital media advertisements newsletters and other promotional materialsincluding but not limited to displays exhibits and multimedia presentations;and performs related duties as assigned.

The GraphicDesigner classification is located in multiple Alameda County operatingdepartments. This classification is expected to have broad indepth workingknowledge of graphic art concepts techniques and processes includingaesthetic design concepts layout principles and advanced file preparation andoutput. Employees in this role utilize a range of communication creativeproject management and teamwork skills to design effective marketing toolsthat enhance the visibility of specialized programs and/or increase publicinterest and audience participation. In addition employees coordinate thedesign and production of graphic projects ensuring that all visualcommunications are consistent credible and professional thereby enhancing theprofessional image and overall branding of Agency/Department and its services.


This is a countywide class but we are currently recruiting for a vacancy in the Social Services the eligible list resulting from this recruitment may be used by any County department or agency needing to fill a vacancy.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

1 A review of candidates applications to verify possessionof minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirementsfor the class will move on to the next step in the examination process.

2 A review of candidates Supplemental Questionnaires and portfolios toselect the best qualified applicants to continue in the process.

3 An oral interview which will be weighted as 100 of thecandidates final examination score. The oral interview may contain situationalexercises.

CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACHPORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION.

We reserve the right to make changes to the announcedexamination components.
