You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailOverview: The internship program at the Two Rivers YMCA is designed to give the student a professional experience in
his/her major area. The internship will be coordinated through the college or university internship program representative.
Areas of Opportunity:
Responsibilities: The YMCA Leadership Team is made up by program and department directors. The student intern will be integrated into a variety of program areas depending on her/his background interests and university requirements. Each intern will work under the direct guidance and supervision of the program director.
Following an initial orientation/training all student interns are required to submit formal goals and objectives for approval by both the university and internship supervisors. As part of these responsibilities the student must identify and complete one major project.
The student intern will report to the supervisor and will maintain ongoing communication with this staff member through scheduled weekly meetings. As part of the planned experience students are given direct programming responsibilities to include budgeting public relation/promotions registration program evaluation staff training and other duties. Specific examples of possible student internship responsibilities have been detailed in the next section.
Once a student has accepted and begins her/his internship the student is obligated to complete the requirement of the program as outlined by her/his school and the Two Rivers YMCA. The intern must represent the YMCA in a professional manner accomplishing duties with pride and enthusiasm. The YMCA welcomes and encourages input from the student and will provide a variety of experiences from which to learn.
Interns may focus on one or multiple departments for a diverse experience.
Eligibility Students should be enrolled in an accredited degree program of health education in recreation sports management childcare child development or other related discipline.

Certifications CPR/AED for infant child and adult is required. Classes are offered through the YMCA if needed. Depending on your area of service additional certifications may be required. Class must be completed within 30 days of hire.
Compensation & Benefits A YMCA membership will be included during the internship. The intern will receive an hourly wage for hours worked in a frontline position which is estimated to be about 65 of the time.
