Job Description

For over 60 years Walker Therapeutic and Educational Programs has been a leading nonprofit organization providing comprehensive programming in the fields of child welfare childrens behavioral health and special education. We proudly serve over 150 communities in MA with our clients coming from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds sexual orientations gender identities and expressions who struggle predominantly with anxiety and trauma. These services are offered through Residential CBAT and Intensive Treatment Programs Special Education Day School Therapeutic MiddleHigh School OutPatient and InHome Therapeutic of Position: To work independently in the Walker School library 12 evenings per week to maintain the Walker School library collection including books and audiovisual materials. To consult to teachers after school or through email on use of library materials. Collaborate with education staff after school or through email with regard to developing and implementing the library curriculum. Ability to learn and grow professionally in the organization!Education and LicensureRequired: Bachelors degreePreferred: Degree in Library ScienceExperienceRequired: Experience as childrens librarian or school media specialistPreferred: Experience with similar population; expertise in childrens literatureAbilitiesRequired abilities: Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively. Must understand child development and the impact of emotional behavioral and learning disabilities. Must understand issues of confidentiality. Must be receptive to supervision and professional development. Required abilities: Ability to work and stand for extended period of time. Job may require bending stooping stretching and lifting. Essential Functions:Work independently as a part of a larger multidisciplinary team to further the emotional behavioral and educational development of a library atmosphere that is conducive to and implement all Walker policies and and maintain library collection including audiovisual and computer circulation of library library budget under the direction of the promptly to teacher requests for assistance in locating library books and other duties as assigned.
