Job Description

Hanover Iron Works is currently seeking a talented and experienced Miscellaneous Steel Detailer/Modeler to join our growing team onsite in our Hanover PA offices.

The Detailer is responsible for assisting and collaborating with the steel team to create shop and erection drawings by interpreting design documents and specifications. 3D modeling is ever growing in our field so 3D experience is a must for this position.

Location: This is an in person position only in York Pa Hanover Pa or Richmond VA.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the detailing manager project manager and any other team members to create shop and erection drawings by interpreting design documents from the structural engineer and architect
  • Utilize Tekla software to quickly and efficiently create 3D models and shop/erection drawings to be used by the steel fabricators and steel erectors in the field & also BIM coordination
  • Read and interpret drawings specs and other instructions to create accurate and constructible drawings & models
  • Perform detailed dimensional and bill of material checks
  • Inspect design for interferences and constructability
  • Perform basic and complex layouts using Tekla Structures
  • Provide detailing solutions to address various field fixes as they may arise throughout the fabrication and installation of the steel members
  • Assist the team with any drawing or model support required to complete the drawing approval fabrication or erection process to ensure excellence
  • Review RFIs addendums and new drawings to incorporate any changes into the design and drawings
  • Maintain record of changes for purposes of submitting change orders
  • Generate RFIs as required to solve design questions and/or conflicts
  • Coordinate field dimensions with PM or surveyor to ensure actual conditions are accurately portrayed on fabrication drawings
  • Work directly with engineer to make sure required items meet code mandated load requirements
  • Design work to meet or exceed required local federal & ADA codes
  • Inform detailing manager of potential delays that could impact schedules
  • Visit project sites as needed for field measuring customer meetings problem resolutions

REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge and experience of detailing structural steel framed buildings or Miscellaneous Metals such as: stairs railings ladders etc.
  • Ability to navigate Tekla AutoCAD models in order to obtain locations elevations coordinates etc.
  • 4 years experience and knowledge in Tekla & AutoCAD (Tekla preferred)
  • Ability to understand and implement requirements of AISC Standard practices and OSHA
  • Experience utilizing Tekla and AutoCAD (Tekla is preferred)
  • Relevant detailing experience and knowledge in structural and miscellaneous steel is preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook Word Excel etc)
  • Ability to effectively function in a team environment
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as the fundamentals of geometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations
  • Must be detail orientated and have strong communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required
  • Properly represent the company and department in company and customer meetings and communications
  • Meet goals established by detailing manager and the general manager
  • Experience in BIM coordination & Tekla EPM is a plus but not a requirement
