Job Description

Position Summary...
ARL Bio Pharma is the nations leading Pharmaceutical quality testing laboratory and has earned an unmatched reputation for quality science and exceptional customer service. This is a managementlevel position in our Chemistry laboratory with 10 or more direct reports and oversight of a department group. This positions success is determined by the ability to manage and lead a portion of the departments technical staff in the daily operations. Within the laboratory this position will provide technical direction on routine and complex issues and procedures to ensure the highest quality and safety standards are met within company industry and regulatory guidelines. Ensures all safety programs are executed correctly and completely. Review reports of the Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) system for adequacy. Collaborate with senior management and department staff to interpret and develop solutions and best practices.
Outside the laboratory this position will oversee daytoday management functions of personnel including recruitment activities timecard review employee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. This position will collaborate with human resources to place job ads schedule interviews and complete workforce and IT request forms. Within strict time bounds this position must complete timecard reviews to ensure the accuracy of submissions and completion of action forms including metricbased performance evaluations and disciplinary/corrective actions.

Work Restrictions:Because of the vital nature of this work we do not allow medical cards and we do random drug testing on all our employees.
The Company is subject to certain federal regulations and directives regarding a drugfree workplace. Work Schedule: Days and Hours of Work vary by assigned group and tasks depending on business needs. The schedule will be discussed with the supervisor for the needs of the company and department. Some Flexibility is required as occasional extensions outside the normal schedule. and weekends may be necessary to meet business needs.

Core Responsibilities...
  • Strict Adherence to Standard Laboratory Operations and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Ensures all data and test results performed are reviewed for completeness accuracy and compliance with company industry and regulatory guidelines and procedures.
  • Serves as a pharmaceutical Chemistry subject matter expert for internal and external agencies.
  • Provides technical direction on routine and complex issues and procedures.
  • Ensures all safety programs are executed to the highest standards and quality control.
  • Reviews reports of the Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) system for adequacy and completeness before submitting for final approval and verification.
  • Tracks and verifies all Chemistry Laboratory personnel and outside contractors are properly trained to conduct assigned activities.
  • Collaborate with the Laboratory Supervisor and other senior department leadership on changes to department policies and procedures to increase output and reduce testing errors within regulations.
  • Performance of daytoday personnel management duties including but not limited to recruitment hiring timecard review evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Collaborated with the Human Resources Department recruitment activities including workforce and IT requests placement of job postings schedule of phone and inperson interviews and notification of job offers.
  • Tracks verifies and completes employee action forms including but not limited to performance evaluations training and development and discipline.
  • At times participates in disciplinary meetings.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in techniques and technology relevant to the field and stays current on industry company and departmental methodologies terminology and regulations.
  • Tracks notifies and recommends management proper action to critical instruments systems and processes when found to be out of specifications or regulations.
  • Mentor and assist in coaching and development of laboratory personnel.
  • Adhere to use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Laboratory Safety Equipment and identify hazards that may arise. Including the ability to wear a fullface respirator in addition to standard Personal Protection Equipment.
  • Complete all safety training including but not limited to OSHA Departmental SOPs and Company Compliance.
Minimum Position Requirements...
  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry or equivalent Diploma with...
  • 3 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry and...
  • 2 years of experience in leadership or personnel management including recruitment interviewing hiring selection coaching mentoring and disciplinary actions.
  • Masters degree in Chemistry or equivalent Diploma is preferred.
  • Experience with Analytical Instrumentation including but not limited to HPLC GC IC and/or TOC is necessary as well asExperience in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
Work Environment...
This job operates in a professional Laboratory environment using typical protection equipment (Eye protection Gloves Lab Coats etc.
This role routinely involves standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers filing cabinets and fax machines.
Essential duties of laboratory environment with periodic exposure to chemicals solvents and other environmental substances including but not limited to odors and varying temperatures.
The noise level is moderate.
Exposure to the use of chemicals with the classification of Toxic Corrosive Flammable or Oxidizing.
Primarily dominated Englishspeaking workplace.
Attendance at the office is required.

Physical Requirements...
This is an active role; walking between buildings and different floors daily and some filing is required.
This position would require the ability to lift 50 Lbs. (If an object weighs more than 50 Lbs. ARL requires this to be a twoperson job or use of carts).
Ability to sit and stand in front of a computer and/or laboratory equipment for extended periods with intermittent twisting/bend to reach instruments or supplies surrounding equipment. Routinely stand and walk in operations of duties.
Ability to use hand strength and finger dexterity to perform grasping and fine manipulation of precise equipment.
Operation of standard office equipment.
Must be fluent in written and spoken English to receive and communicate information for standard and complex operations and emergencies clearly and accurately.
Requires visual acuity to read and write words and numbers and to see in the normal visual range including ability to distinguish colors and shapes with or without correction.
Requires hearing communications accurately with or without correction.
