This Eligibility Technician 2 (ET2 is responsible for timely and accurate eligibility assessments and benefit applications for Social Security Division of Public Assistance and Title XIX Medicaid programs on behalf of clients of the Public Guardian. This ET2 must be proficient with or able to quickly become proficient with multiple systems including but not limited to Estate Management Software (EMS) Defender by Karpel (DbK) Eligibility Information System (EIS) the Department of Labor Employment System and the Department of Revenue Child Support Enforcement computer system NSTAR.
The Office of Public Advocacy (OPA) provides legal advocacy and guardianship services to vulnerable Alaskans. With offices in Anchorage Juneau Fairbanks Kenai Palmer and Bethel OPA advocates for abused and neglected children in protective proceedings provides public guardianship for incapacitated adults advocacy for victims of elder fraud attorney services for respondents in adult guardianship proceedings for parents in childinneedofaid cases and conflict criminal cases received from the Public Defender Agency.
Our office presents the opportunity to work as part of a strong team providing advocacy on behalf of vulnerable Alaskans to meet our mission to provide all eligible benefits to the protected vulnerable adults we serve.
One year of entrylevel experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska;
OR
One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
Substitution:
Postsecondary education in such fields as sociology social work psychology counseling human services vocational rehabilitation developmental disabilities behavioral sciences business public administration or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours 1 month).

It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
