Job Summary
The WGLT Student Visual Journalist works with the Newsroom to create visual content for use on the stations social media and other promotional materials. The Student Visual Journalist works under the supervision of the WGLT Digital Content Director and the Digital Producer. The position is assigned photo or video work then is responsible for shooting editing and distribution of that work while under supervision.
WGLT BloomingtonNormals Public Media is part of the NPR Network licensed to and operating from Illinois State University in Normal. WGLT is McLean Countys leader in local news and also provides the highest quality national and international news via the NPR Network. Awardwinning local news is featured in the weekday morning podcast The Leadoff and in the weekday evening newsmagazine Sound Ideas. WGLT champions independent nonprofit journalism as our public service duty with onair and digital content freely available to all who want it at 89.1 FM the NPR app Facebook and Instagram.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with video production video editing and Adobe Premiere and Photoshop preferred. Comparable experience may be acceptable based on qualifications.

Important Information for Applicants
This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and if applicable an employment history review based on University Policy 3.1.30 and any offer of employment is contingent upon you passing a satisfactory criminal background investigation and/or an employment history review. In addition all appointments are contingent upon proof of eligibility for employment at Illinois State University to perform the required duties described above on your scheduled start date. Illinois State University as your employer is required by federal law to ensure proper tax withholding from wages and to ensure that the required reporting of employee wages withholding and employment taxes is accurate. Illinois State University student employees are restricted to no more than 28 hours per week of oncampus employment for all positions held.
International students are restricted by their visa status to no more than 20 hours per week of oncampus employment when the university is in session but may work more when the university is not in session.
