QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently hold or qualify for Washington State E.S.A. school psychologist certificate.
- Would accept a Substitute Emergency Certificate with a Bachelors in the field of Psychology.
- Successful experience working in the field of school psychology.
- Working knowledge of Washington state and federal laws relating to students with disabilities.
- Successful experience in an educational environment.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality and easily understood written reports letters and other professional correspondence.
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to follow through on tasks.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.
DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES:
- Provides a full range of school psychological services to children ages birth to 22 including screening and assessment designing remedial educational programs individual and group counseling with school staff parents and outside agencies as appropriate.
- Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team to determine the students eligibility for special services appropriate programming and ongoing progress.
- Implement all procedures to meet compliance standards as outlined in WACs in concert with district procedures and due process forms.
- Conduct psychoeducational assessments and communicate the results to students parents and school personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Screen and evaluate referred children including selecting appropriate instruments administering tests observations and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations.
- Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team and the individualized education program (IEP) committee contributing evaluation findings and collaborating on the childs educational plan.
- Provide collaborative consultation and documentation of results including assisting basic education staff with suggestions and implementation of prereferral intervention strategies and providing recommendations and modifications to assist basic education staff in working with special education students in the classroom setting.
- Consult with parents teachers and other appropriate staff regarding the childs program and any adaptations/materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home.
- Maintain appropriate data on students to document current levels of performance and other pertinent information. Reevaluate as appropriate to determine extent of progress and effectiveness of services.
- Establish and monitor the necessary caseloads procedures and resources to manage school psychologist services to students/staff and work cooperatively to accomplish the goals of the IEP.
- Consult with principals staff and parents concerning behavior management and/or design of specially designed instruction.
- Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession and to the established rules regulations and laws governing special education programs. Participate in activities that promote professional development and use clinical/educational research to enhance student services.
- Must have excellent attendance.
