Associate degree in social science or business administration is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
Current/active North Carolina or compact RN license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association is required.
Case Management Certification is preferred.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and written in all levels of the organization; must be able to work independently computer skills in Microsoft office are required. Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with a variety of people and groups.
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum one to three years of health care or volunteer service management experience is preferred.

Position Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator establishes and leads the activities of Volunteer Services in support of Maria Parham Medical Centers mission and the goals of the Volunteer Services Department. Position is responsible for coordinating all the activities of Volunteer Services. Coordinator oversees the work of all volunteer staff which includes training and feedback to obtain maximum performance. Responsible for working closely with managers and Volunteers to ensure positive and productive utilization of Volunteer efforts. Coordinator will recruit and retain volunteers that will enhance and provide assistance to the employees of Maria Parham Medical Center and must develop strong and positive relationships with individual Volunteers.
Reports to: Director of People Services
Responsibilities of the Position
Manage coordinate and supervise all activities of Volunteer Services.
Recruit orient and assign Volunteers in departments as needed.
Coordinates and supervises Junior Volunteer Program includes completing the processes of interviewing reference checks placement evaluation and recognition.
Conduct orientation and continuing education programs for volunteers and develop revise as needed.
Supervise direct and evaluate daily volunteer activities.
Completes monthly volunteer calendar and develops other volunteer correspondence as needed.
Reviews updates and maintains volunteer files. This includes annual evaluations safety updates and TB testing.
Maintain and develop as needed volunteer job descriptions.
Ensures compliance with the Joint Commission standards and other mandatory requirements.
Develop revise and maintain policy and procedures for Volunteer Services Department.
Assist VP HR with budget and plan needs for department.
Maintains good relations with managers and supervisors to develop new Volunteer opportunities.
Maintains schedule of volunteers to ensure coverage at all times.
Represents the department to various agencies and community organizations deemed important to achievement of the medical center and departmental goals.
Prepares detailed monthly reports of Volunteer activities and hours.
Speaks with various services in community to promote the Volunteer Program.
Implements and maintain a marketing plan to recruit volunteers; brochures.
Coordinates the fundraising activities. Includes but not limited to location volunteer staffing vendor contract coordination fund reconciliation database maintenance.
Coordinates recognition programs for volunteers including trip awards and thank you notes.
Responsible for coordinating maintenance for piano massage chair and golf cart as needed.
Order and maintain magazines for hospital lobby and medical plaza.
Completes other related assignments as required & needed.
Other duties as assigned.
