Overview
We are seeking a Psychiatrist at SummitStone Acute Care at Longview to provide patient care physician oversight and continuity within our facility. We are opening an Adolescent Unit8 beds for adolescents aged 1217 in the Summer 2025 in addition to the existing Crisis WalkIn Services Crisis Statilization Unit 16 adult beds) and Withdrawal Management Unit 16 adult beds). The ideal candidate would be willing to see both adult and adolescent clients.
This role involves conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations developing individualized treatment plansand providingpsychotherapy or medication management to help young patients cope with issues such as depression anxiety ADHD traumasubstance useeating disorders and behavioral problems. TheChildPsychiatrist will work closely with families schools and interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care and positive outcomes for each patient.

What Youll Do:
As a Psychiatrist on our new Adolescent Unit you will provide direct professional services in the evaluation and treatment of clients aged 12 to 17 years old in acute careshortterm residential environment. Longview opened in December 2023 as a collaboration between Larimer County and SummitStone we provide comprehensive collaborative and multidisciplinary care for mental health and substance use.
The primary focus of this position will be behavioral health substance use and physical health as it relates to the inpatient setting. Major responsibilities of this position include: diagnosis treatment and management of mental health disorders in children and adolescents. This role involves conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations developing individualized treatment plans and providing psychotherapy or medication management to help young patients cope with mental health issues.
This role includes teaching and training students and residents as well as collaborating with others care givers on the medical and therapy teams.
This role could be expanded to provide support and coverage for adult clients on our other units 16 bed crisis unit and 16 bed withdrawal management unit).The role could be parttime or potentially fulltime if you were also willing to participate in the care of adult clients on other units 16 bed crisis unit and 16 bed withdrawal management unit).
Compassion strong communication skills and a deep understanding of adolescent development are key to success in this role.
Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited university with additional postgraduate training in psychiatry.
- More than four years of experience working in a related field required with target population.
- More than two years of experience in treating and servicing persons with substance use and mental health needs preferred.
- Understanding and commitment to Medication Assisted Treatment and harm reduction principles required.
- Strong understanding of substance use treatment and knowledge of withdrawal management processes preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be evaluated and considered.
Licenses and Certifications:
- DEA Certification and waiver to prescribe buprenorphine (or willingness to obtain waiver within 30 days of hire) required.
- License to psychiatry in the state of Colorado required.
- Valid Colorado drivers license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record.
- Board certified or eligible with plans for certification.
