Job Description

Directs and administers all facilities management operations for the Ivy Tech Lake County campus including all construction and renovation projects;
Major areas of responsibility and supervision include maintaining the physical operations of the campus in a safe secure and clean environment and in good functional and structural repair;
The Director provides immediate supervision for the facilities staff at all Lake County locations including East Chicago Crown Point and Gary. This position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration.

Annual Salary: $6500 $75000

Assists in the direction of the following:

  • Department budget and expenditures

  • Standard and ad hoc Regional Office reporting

  • Facility Repair & Rehabilitation Parking lot and Drive projects from planning through implementation

  • New construction and major renovation projects from planning through implementation

  • Longterm facility needs including new leasehold new construction and cooperative or jointuse facilities

  • Recommendation and negotiation of outside contractors for plant operations and/or security services

  • Maintain update and ensure timely and effective implementation of the maintenance schedule for all facilities parking lots grounds vehicles and equipment

  • Daily oversight and direction of Campus Maintenance Coordinators maintenance personnel and outside contractors for Campus facilities parking lot grounds vehicles and equipment projects

  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA standards

  • Reporting Staffs evaluations timesheets supervision and disciplinary procedures following personnel policies and procedures

  • Staff work schedules


All other duties as assigned the above list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules blue prints schematics operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups of employees.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration

SUPERVISION GIVEN: Facilities Support

Bachelor degree preferably in a related field with five years related work experience; or industry related certifications with seven years related work experience is required.

Three years supervisory experience is required.

Must be able and willing to travel.

Must be able to work flexible hours.

Familiar with building plumbing fire and electrical codes.

Ability to plan and estimate time and materials

Must have the ability to read blue prints and schematics.

Must have experience in construction and public works projects.

Must have experience in working with local zoning administrators and permit authorities.

Must have excellent communication management and organizational skills.

Experience with Microsoft Office products.

Project management experience preferred.

Experience with Indianas public bidding process preferred.

Positivity creativity flexibility in working schedule. (Ability to work days and some evenings) focused on student support and success
