Director of Development - Partnerships

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Development (EDD) the Director of Development Partnerships (DDP) plans organizes directs and coordinates ongoing and new fundraising programs and initiatives on behalf of HACU with a primary focus on industry and federal partners by performing the following duties.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors degree in related area required with a masters degree preferred.
• A minimum of five years of experience in development and fundraising and in securing funds from private donors foundations and corporations.
• Three years of experience with a proven track record of successfully soliciting major gifts and grants greater than $100000.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential to successfully discharge the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
• Ability to respond in a timely manner to inquiries from individuals corporations and foundations.
• Ability to develop presentations and effectively present information to top management public groups and/or boards of directors.
• Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred but not required.
• Excellent computer skills and/or training with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Teams Zoom and other related software. Familiarity with fundraising and data management platforms such as Raisers Edge or Salesforce preferred.
• High level of proficiency required with document merges PowerPoint presentations data maintenance and report generation.
• Ability to perform general mathematical skills including algebraic formula applications and extrapolation of data.
• Must possess strong data analysis and quantitative skills. Good analytical and math skills are required for program budget development and management data analysis invoices receipts processing accounting related forms.
• Strong organizational and strategic planning skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and within deadlines and to meet challenges with resourcefulness and develop alternative approaches and ideas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works collaboratively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional technical and administrative staff to ensure the fulfillment of HACUs mission goals and objectives.
• In coordination with EDD and the Assistant Vice President for Advancement and Marketing Director of Development Partnerships (DDP) plays a lead role in the development and implementation of a fundraising strategic plan and calendar of activities to reach and exceed HACU annual fundraising goals and objectives.
• Priority focus for the DDP will be soliciting support from business and government entities wishing to partner with HACU through the sale of sponsorships and ads for the annual conference capitol forum and international conference and through the preparation and submission of program proposals.
• Takes initiative by conducting research on local national and international entities to identify prospects in support of events scholarships student and professional programs special projects and general ongoing operations. Engages with prospective contributors and persuades them to contribute funds or inkind gifts by explaining mission purpose and benefits of partnering with HACU.
• Prepares proposals agreements contracts and reports as requested by sponsor for engaging and contributing to HACU.
• Engages with the leaders of HACU departments to understand their fundraising needs and develops a plan for solicitation. Collaborates with departments in developing solicitations securing support and stewardship of donors.
• Maintains Raisers Edge database current with existing and prospective donors and their contributions to ensure internal and external financial reports are accurately prepared. Assists with the proper acknowledgement of contributions made to HACU with letters of appreciation.
• Additional duties include serving as a resource during peak times of planning to assist with alumni and annual giving campaigns and foundation solicitations.
• As a lead member of the Development team assists with ensuring junior team members have the proper guidance direction and resources to complete tasks assigned.
• The responsibilities listed are not exhaustive and may evolve; additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs to support overall objectives.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Fulltime exempt position; standard 40hour workweek with occasional extended hours as needed.
• Primary work setting is inperson at an office location.
• Regularly operates a computer and standard office equipment; requires close vision and manual dexterity.
• Must be able to remain seated for prolonged periods and occasionally squat kneel bend or reach overhead.
• Occasionally lifts or moves items up to 30 pounds.
• Conferences and events may take place in hotel and/or convention center settings and require longer hours of work on a constantly changing schedule and the ability to complete the essential functions of this role in a noisy environment.
• The physical demands of this role increase in the time leading up to during and after conference/events. This includes extended periods of standing walking occasional bending and stooping. Conferences may require the employee to position themselves to move push and lift equipment or supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
• Responsible for securing HACUissued equipment data and supplies.
• Travel is required to perform essential functions.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
