The City of Berkeley is looking for an Associate Human Resources Analyst to join our team! In this role you will have the opportunity to support a workforce of approximately 2500 fulltime parttime and temporary/seasonal employees across a wide variety of job functions. Youll perform professionallevel human resources duties in one or more functional areas which may include recruitment and selection classification and compensation labor and employee relations workers compensation leave of absence and/or benefits administration. A typical way of gaining the knowledge skills and abilities for this position is: The exam process will include but may not be limited to: Tests may consist of any combination of written oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include but are not necessarily limited to typing math reading writing and analytical skills; problem solving ability; computer and software proficiency or any other jobrelated knowledge skill ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may without notice change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews. The current vacant position is in the area of workers compensation medical leaves and ADA reasonable accommodations. This position will advise employees regarding workers compensation claims and related leaves of absence engage in the interactive process for leaves and accommodations and coordinate with a third party workers compensation administrator. Under the general supervision of a Senior Human Resources Analyst who handles the most complex activities this position will handle the more routine to difficult cases.

Possession of a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration human resources management industrial relations or a closely related field; and two 2 years of professional human resources experience in more than one 1 human resources functional area or program. Additional professionallevel relevant work experience may be substituted for the required college education on a yearforyear basis.
Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on city business the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California drivers license and a satisfactory driving record.
In addition to the minimum qualifications above the ideal candidate for the current vacant position is a problemsolver with excellent customer service skills high attention to detail and knowledge of state and federal medical leave programs. This person has the ability to conduct independent research and analysis make datainformed decisions and use independent judgment in situations with highly sensitive and confidential information. Familiarity with medical terminology ADA accommodations and workers compensation programs is desirable.APPLICATION PROCESS
