I. Position Summary:II. Major Responsibilities:
1. Patient Support & Advocacy:
Provides peer recovery support services to pregnant women with OUD in primary care behavioral health sites home and community settings assisting patients in achieving sustained recovery.
Develops a trusting relationship with patients maintaining ongoing support regardless of relapse. Serves as a motivator ally role model problemsolver and advocate for patients with substance use disorders.
Supports project participants in developing a recovery/relapse prevention plan assisting them in reaching their goals and identifying a recovery support network.
Helps patients navigate social determinants of health including housing employment childcare education criminal justicerelated needs and benefits applications (e.g. Early Intervention WIC).
Accompanies patients to appointments and meetings with probation officers social workers and child protection workers focusing on support rather than direct coordination of services.
2. Collaboration & Coordination:
Works with hospital and community partners to identify pregnant women with an OUD in need of treatment and coordinate their care.
Collaborates with treatment providers and collateral contacts on an ongoing basis to ensure coordinated patient care and treatment employing evidencebased practices.
Becomes knowledgeable in evidencebased practices such as TraumaInformed Care Seeking Safety The Nurturing Program and the Recovery Coach Model.
Conducts active outreach efforts to encourage attendance and participation in recoveryoriented selfhelp groups.
3. Coaching & Motivational Support:
Uses Motivational Interviewing techniques to explore patient ambivalence and facilitate treatment engagement.
Assists patients in overcoming barriers to recovery by providing guidance on available resources and advocating for necessary services.
4. Data & Quality Assurance:
Participates in data collection and reporting as directed for quality assurance and program evaluation.
Maintains timely records of all patient encounters in AHP monthly logs in compliance with state and federal confidentiality laws.
Systematically reviews the caseload with the supervisor weekly focusing on new patients and those experiencing challenges.
5. Standard Lead Level Responsibilities:
Distributes and monitors the flow of work for an assigned group of employees. Provides recommendations to manager or supervisor for the most efficient utilization of assigned personnel. Relays work instruction from the supervisor.
Provides training and technical assistance to employees within the assigned work area. Assists supervisor in assuring that assigned employees are provided with appropriate resources materials and methods.
Complies with established departmental policies procedures and objectives.
Respects diverse views and approaches demonstrates Standards of Respect and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism tolerance civility and acceptance toward all employees patients and visitors.
Attends a variety of meetings conferences and seminars as required or directed.
Demonstrates use of quality improvement in daily operations.
Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
Maintains regular reliable and predictable attendance.
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

III. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Certified Addiction Recovery Coach (CARC) certification. If not certified upon hire certification must be obtained within 3 months from date of certification is not obtained within 3 months of hire the employee may be terminated or employee may apply for another position for which they meet the minimum qualifications.
3. Supervision of Recovery Coaches and Other Peer Workers Training certification. If not certified upon hire certification must be obtained within 3 months from date of certification is not obtained within 3 months of hire the employee may be terminated or employee may apply for another position for which they meet the minimum qualifications.
4. Valid drivers license.
5. Car in good working order insured with a valid Inspection sticker.
Preferred:

Experience/Skill:
Required:
1. Lived experience with a minimum of 3 years in sustained recovery.
2. Comfort with multiple recovery pathways for OUD and a patientcentered approach that recognizes individual preferences and autonomy.
3. Ability to work in both medical and social service settings.
4. Clinical skills in motivational enhancement strategies and providing nonjudgmental feedback.
5. Flexibility to adapt to unforeseen needs or circumstances including rotating oncall responsibilities.
6. Knowledge of medicationassisted treatment.
7. Strong organizational oral written advocacy interpersonal facilitation and leadership skills.
8. Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) and effective internet use.
10. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team (psychologists physicians social workers nurses).
11. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients families and staff.
Preferred:
1. Previous training in a peer recovery support role.
Unless certification licensure or registration is required an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Departmentspecific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
IV. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Work is considered sedentary. Position requires work indoors in a normal office environment.
