The Caledonia Central Supervisory Union is seeking an experienced Facilities Director to lead our maintenance/custodial staff and oversee all building ground and transportation maintenance within the CCSU. CCSU has 400 staff and it serves just over 1200 students in seven schools:Job DescriptionPosition: Director of Facilities & OperationsReports To: SuperintendentWork Location: All Schools Buildings and Grounds of the CCSUSalary: Based on ExperienceFLSA Status: ExemptOur MissionIt is the mission of the Caledonia Central Supervisory Union and its seven member schools to create a learning community in which each individual can achieve the highest standards of excellence in intellectual growth and SummaryResponsible for the supervision and management of all service operations for the Supervisory Union including the following: grounds & facilities custodial and maintenance and repairs of all schoolowned DutiesSupervises and directs the training and orientation of new employees in methods and procedures to ensure efficient accomplishment of their job dutiesInterviews recommends for hire assigns and supervises work of all service operations the performance of assigned personnelFormulates planning and work schedules for all supervised employeesCooperates with all regulatory agencies and initiates all required reports pertaining to school facilities and motor vehicles. Maintains district compliance with all state inspections & mandated policies and proceduresAccountable for assuring that specifications codes and regulations are being observed and followedEvaluates the districts security program on a continuing basis and advises the Superintendent on all security mattersEstablishes a routine periodic inspection of all facilities to determine that high standards of workmanship cleanliness safety and security are maintainedAssumes responsibility for the care condition and appearance of the facilities grounds and equipmentCoordinates with the SU Finance Director and building principals in preparing the budget for maintenance grounds cafeteria security and custodial supplies and equipmentRecommends the purchase and arranges for repair of all custodial maintenance and cafeteria equipment purchases and distribution of suppliesAssists in the promotion of good safety proceduresSupervises and inspects the improvement and renovation work performed by outside contractors and verifies that the terms of all such contracts have been fulfilled before authorizing final payment in conjunction with the Finance DirectorResponsible for snow and ice removalServes as a member of the district leadership teamOncall for emergency and security purposesMaintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctualMaintains up to date knowledge of technology utilized by the districtWrites RFPs for contract services under FacilitiesResponsible for supporting building administrators in security safety and emergency these and all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or DesigneeQualifications/ExperienceTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily in addition to the following:An Associates Degree or higher specializing in the mechanical electrical or engineering field is preferredExperience in Facilities and Operations is preferredTraining and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge of the operations of school buildings facilities & grounds food service vehicles and power equipmentOrganizational skills and ability to maintain a computerized inventory control systemStrong positive interpersonal and public relations skillsMust have or can obtain BOC (Building Operators Certificate) or CPMM (Certified Professional Maintenance Manager CertificateMust possess a valid Vermont drivers licenseMust pass a criminal background checkPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand or sit. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and depth perception.
