JOB DESCRIPTION: Gifted and Talented Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:

• The Gifted and Talented Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging rigorous and differentiated instruction to meet the unique academic social and emotional needs of gifted students. This educator will cultivate a challenging and supportive learning environment that fosters creativity and critical thinking.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Ability to use effective differentiation strategies; strong content and pedagogical knowledge; A strong understanding of the cognitive academic and socialemotional needs of gifted studentsincluding those from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds; ability to use time effectively; good organizational skills; ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors); knowledge of physiological psychological emotional and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents; ability and desire to integrate innovative instructional practices.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Candidates must hold or be eligible to hold a certificate issued by the Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement as a Gifted and Talented Teacher.

Work Experience: Experience as an elementary teacher is preferred.

Mental Requirements: read write understand interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy compare compile and coordinate information and records.
