Reporting directly to the Aquatic Manager the Aquatic Supervisor is a key team member in the Aquatics department who will:

  • Provide direction and support to all lifeguard and instructional staff and instill the Ys core values of caring respect responsibility honesty and inclusiveness
  • Assist the Aquatic Manager in the provision of aquatic instructional recreational programs
  • Work efficiently and effectively provides guidance and leadership to aquatic staff and builds relationships with our members
  • Able to work independently and with flexibility to problem solve fulfilling daytoday shift supervisor duties:
  • Monitors the general safety and maintenance of the pool deck change rooms and associated areas and reports concerns to the appropriate department
  • Organizes and ensures the pool is set up for scheduled activities and that user needs are sufficiently met
  • Coordinate supervise and deliver instruction for First Aid Advanced Courses and Swim Lessons as required
  • Administrate group bookings including all rentals and school swim lessons
  • Be the lead in emergency situations as well as ensures first aid supplies emergency equipment and program equipment are in order and performs safety inspections as required
  • Ensures that all awards or certifications are kept current and up to date
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including daytime evenings and weekends at multiple YMCA of SIBC Aquatic facilities.

  • YMCA Canada Swim Instructor or Red Cross Water Safety Instructor
  • National Lifeguard CertificationPool Option
  • National Lifeguard CertificationWaterpark Option
  • Current Intermediate First Aid with CPRC
  • Airway Management and Oxygen Administration (AMOA) certification
  • Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) First Aid Instructor (FAI) and National Lifeguard Instructor (NLI) are considered assets

  • Provide 3 references of a professional nature (Ex. employer supervisor colleague teacher coach etc.
