Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital (HDVCH) and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine seek a casual Newborn Hospitalist to join our team in Grand Rapids.
Applicants should demonstrate a record of clinical excellence in newborn medicine skill in delivery room management and neonatal resuscitation and collaborative approach to working with the multidisciplinary team in Womens and Infant Services. This position will work out of Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids (BW) and is classified as an employed Corewell Health HDVCH employee.
Position details:
Manage well newborns in the Level 1 nursery (BW)
Attend all highrisk deliveries and lead delivery room resuscitation (MCG)
Complete routine newborn procedures (circumcision and frenotomy)
Facilitate resident and medical student education and collaborate with advanced practice providers (BW)
Collaborate on quality improvement patient safety and educational initiatives within the hospital system
Academic appointment with Michigan State University College of Human Medicine; academic rank will be commensurate with experience
Candidates must be boardcertified/boardeligible in Pediatrics. We will support successful candidates in obtaining circumcision credentialing and maintaining NRP certification.
Basic Qualifications:
Education Medical Degree (MD or DO)
Boardeligible/boardcertified in Pediatrics
Current M.D. or D.O. license for the state of Michigan
Current State of Michigan and Federal Narcotics Licenses
Certification NRP (resuscitation)

HDVCH is a 241bed tertiary care referral center with approximately 11000 pediatric admissions per year located in Grand Rapids Michigan. There are over 110000 ambulatory visits as well as over 55000 children are seen in the Pediatric Emergency Department (Level 1 Trauma rated) each year. We are home to a large pediatrics residency program and 7 pediatric fellowship programs. Our faculty are heavily involved with teaching medical students residents and fellows both at the bedside and in the classroom. On the same campus is Butterworth Hospital where approximately 8000 babies are delivered annually of which the majority are cared for by the newborn hospitalist team.
