Job Description
Drr is one of the worlds leading suppliers of products systems and services mainly for automobile manufacturing. Our range of products and services covers important stages of vehicle production. As a systems supplier we plan and build complete paint shops and final assembly facilities. We also manufacture and supply automotive and industrial paint and sealing robotics. Our environmental technologies deal with procedures to improve energy efficiency and the exhaust air purification.
We are a growing organization and we are seeking a Quality Control Engineer to join our team. Together with the momentum of our business vision we can achieve international success and added innovation in all of the themes which Drr influences at a global level.
Position Summary: Responsible for the direct monitoring of fabrication subcontractors in the United States Mexico and Canada. Responsible for ensuring a quality product on time deliveries and controlling cost. Liaison between in house engineering and purchasing with fabrication subcontractors liaison between fabrication subcontractors and Durr installation sites. Responsible to work with Purchasing and Engineering to review proposed subcontracts scopes of work responsibility matrices release for fabrication drawings and schedules prior to awarding purchase orders.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Make on site visits to suppliers to track progress and adherence to schedule for outsourced manufacturing and prepare reports on the same.
- Make on site visits to suppliers to ensure outsourced manufacturing for sheet metal structural steel and related products meets stringent technical and quality requirements and prepare reports on the same.
- Verify fabrications for dimensional tolerances perform quality control checks and evaluate methods/procedures to determine how quality might be improved
- Works directly with engineers and project managers to determine procedures priorities and scheduling for outsourced manufacturing.
- Assists buyers with the identification and technical evaluation of suppliers and technical support in pricing negotiations.
- Assist buyers in qualifying and developing new suppliers for fabricated products.
- Travel approximately 5070
Nonessential Functions:
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent technical experience preferred
- 3 years of position related experience
- Able to read and understand technical engineering drawings and documents 3D models project schedules
- Knowledgeable on all shop fabrication operations.
- Experience in GMAW GTAW SMAW weld processes for mild steel and stainless able to inspect and troubleshoot weld processes and procedures.
- Experience in visual weld inspection dye penetrant weld inspection/testing other NDT testing protocols.
- Familiar with AWS ASME and AISC welding and fabrication standards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word Excel and Project
- Exceptional time management skills organizational skills and interpersonal skills
- Able to work well independently and in a team environment
- Willing and able to work overtime weekends and holidays when necessary
- Willing and able to travel in US Mexico and Canada
Physical Demands: While performing duties of job incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision.
