Job Description

Position Overview:

The Applications Engineer II provides advanced technical support for CNC machinery assisting customers both onsite and remotely. This role involves conducting time studies machine demonstrations programming and process optimization to support sales and postinstallation customer success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage application engineering tasks while aligning priorities with team and company goals.

  • Design and fabricate custom fixtures and workholding solutions for demos test cuts and turnkey projects.

  • Troubleshoot complex machining and manufacturing processes.

  • Complete time studies and machining estimates with a 10 accuracy tolerance.

  • Program CNC equipment using conversational programming industrystandard CAM software and Gcode/macro programming.

  • Set up and operate CNC machines including multiaxis and millturn equipment for testing and demonstrations.

  • Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and quality standards.

  • Generate engineering reports proposals and technical documentation for internal and customer use.

  • Set up and program coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) for part validation.

  • Support presales efforts by collaborating with sales team members to understand and advise on technical requirements.

  • Train customers on equipment operation and best practices after machine installation.

  • Maintain regular communication with internal technical staff external clients and vendors.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred or equivalent handson machining and engineering experience.

  • 3 7 years of experience in CNC machining part processing and technical support.

  • Proficiency in part processing metal cutting theory Gcode programming and machine setup.

  • Understanding of metallurgy and material behaviors in machining environments.

  • Strong multitasking ability and time management skills in a fastpaced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and nontechnical audiences.

  • High level of adaptability and ability to manage shifting project priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook Excel Word and PowerPoint.

  • Strong attention to detail organizational ability and analytical problemsolving skills.

  • Willingness to work fulltime with occasional overtime and travel as required.
