Position Purpose:
The E&I Technician will support plant operations through inspecting troubleshooting repairing and maintaining all plant electrical systems and instrumentation and controls equipment. The E&I Technician will perform skilled work requiring a high degree of precision and understanding of technical data and systems.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Adhering to all health safety and compliance requirements in accordance with federal and state regulations as well as company and site safety and engineering standards.
- Participate in maintenance reliability programs and processes.
- Participate in the development of the E&I maintenance work schedule including upcoming scheduled shutdowns.
- Install and maintain electrical distribution centers.
- Test energized systems.
- Fabricate and install electrical conduit systems.
- Calibrate install and maintain electrical/electronic equipment pneumatic process control and related systems.
- Operate electrical distribution systems.
- Field sketch and interpret drawings electronic prints and repair procedures.
- Maintain electrical machine control and process systems.
- Maintain online and offline analytical measurement equipment.
- Contribute to the design implementation and programming of control systems for equipment upgrades and new installations.
- Be oncall on a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays. This includes the ability to answer phone calls and if needed go into the plant on off hours.
- Perform other workrelated duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- Minimum of 4 years progressive experience as a technician performing electrical or instrumentation & controls maintenance and repair in a industrial workplace.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Able to read process flow diagrams and control and instrumentation diagrams and interpreting manufacturers manuals and drawings.
- Able to troubleshoot and work on sophisticated electronic equipment analyze systems and processes and make necessary corrections.
- Work with hand tools and test instruments.
- Write and maintain control of systems software. This includes but is not limited to PLCs DCSs and drives.
- Able to operate with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment with a high degree of initiative.
- Good written and oral communications skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds without negative personal health impact.
- Willing and able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Willing and able to wear required PPE including respirators fall arrest harness and chemical protective clothing without negative personal health impact.
- Willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Able to distinguish colors used in electrical wiring colorcoding.
