The Department of Transportation is actively looking to hire a Driver License Examiner for the Malvern Driver License Center. This vital role involves serving as a PennDOT Driver License Examiner where the primary responsibility is to enhance highway safety through the administration of standardized tests that assess the skills and qualifications of applicants seeking noncommercial driver licenses. In addition to conducting these essential evaluations the examiner will also play a key role in assisting customers at the Driver License Center particularly in verifying identity documents to prevent identity theft and fraud. In this position you will assess the physical and driving qualifications of applicants as well as evaluate the mechanical condition of vehicles to ensure they meet the established safety standards for driving. You will conduct various vision tests including telebinocular and color perception assessments to gauge applicants visual capabilities. Additionally you will administer both noncommercial and commercial driver license knowledge examinations to verify that individuals possess a solid understanding of the Vehicle Code and traffic signage. Your responsibilities will also include conducting pretrip skills and driving tests for noncommercial licenses in accordance with departmental guidelines while scrutinizing applications registrations and permits for any signs of irregularities or fraudulent activity. You will determine the specific characteristics of vehicles to ensure that the appropriate tests are administered and will inspect motor vehicles for compliance with safety features such as inspection stickers lights and windshield wipers.
Furthermore you will review various documents including applications birth certificates Social Security cards marriage certificates court documents proof of residency and other identification issued by governmental agencies both domestic and foreign to verify their authenticity. Utilizing multiple systems and databases you will authenticate identity documents to establish an individuals identity and eligibility for a drivers license or identification card. Your role will also involve identifying instances of fraud and taking measures to prevent the creation of false identities and identity theft. You will process test results and applications issuing driver licenses and identification cards to qualified applicants while providing essential information regarding renewals duplicates outofstate transfers motorcycle licenses and commercial drivers licenses including the various restrictions and endorsements associated with them. Additionally you will generate Restoration Requirements Letters upon request for customers who visit in person ensuring clear communication of relevant information related to their inquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Two years of experience obtaining evaluating and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:
All positions require an active Pennsylvania noncommercial Class C Drivers License or equivalent and twentyone years of age at the time of application.
All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a drivers license during thefive yearperiodimmediatelypreceding employment.
All employees in this job hired after February 28 2022 are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M drivers license within the first six months of employmentor before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
