The position

As the Director of Cardiorenal Medical Affairs you will be accountable to lead the medical affairs department across Cardiovascular and renal disease. This is a leadership role to establish Novo Nordisk presence within these areas by setting and executing on Medical strategy aligned with the broader aspirations of Novo Nordisk. This position will report to the Vice President Clinical Medical and Regulatory (CMR) UK. The department consists ofMedical Affairs professionals including the field cardiorenal Medical Affairs team and their line manager.

Based in Gatwick you will have the opportunity to thrive in a fastpaced and everevolving environment leading your team and working cross functionally with teams across Clinical Development Regulatory Affairs Market Access and commercial teams.

Your main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Medical Affairs Team leadership. Lead and manage the performance and development of the cardiorenal medical affairs in accordance with the Novo Nordisk Way and development of the Medical Affairs strategy in association with the UK medical leadership team based on the insights of the unmet needs of patients HCPs and health systems.
  • Establish and execute the scientific communication strategy across clinical trial phases and provide input to clinical trials programs and RealWorld Evidence (RWE) plans. Prepare launches and label expansions for existing and new medicines including standalone CVD or renal assets.
  • Be the medical voice of the company working closely with external experts integrating patient voices and close collaborations with National or International Professional Associations.
  • Define and execute the publication strategy and plan including RWE publications. Provide medical education to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) through scientific meetings and symposia. Ensure full compliance with ABPI code and other relevant requirements.
  • Act as the nominated medical signatory for the company related to these therapeutic areas. Active member of the CMR leadership team; shared accountability for the CMR business agenda raising relevant topics making a strong contribution decision making and of agreed actions.

About the department

You will be an active member of the CMR Leadership Team contributing to the CMR business agenda and strategy. Based in the UK our department is committed to delivering highquality medical affairs strategies aligned with Novo Nordisks objectives. We foster a collaborative and inspiring atmosphere working closely with senior leaders across the business. Our team is dedicated to ensuring compliance with ABPI code as well as company quality systems and procedures while driving the development and performance management of our high performers.

Qualifications

  • A university Degree in a relevant area such as an MBChB/MD equivalent
  • Several years of professional experience in the researchbased pharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs and/or other areas of pharmaceutical medicine discipline
  • Strong leadership skills and sound medicalscientific expertise particularly in the fields of Cardiovascular and Renal medicine
  • Proficiency in English is a must to have good analytical understanding and entrepreneurial thinking will be highly valued
  • Extensive knowledge of the ABPI code (The Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry code) and experience in senior leadership of functional and large diverse teams. Building and sustaining productive relationships with external stakeholders and network groups.
