Maintenance Engineer Technician Apprentice

Swarm Group is working with ThurneMiddleby Ltd in their search for a Level 3 Maintenance and Operation Engineer Technician apprentice. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start their career in engineering and aiming for career progression.

About ThurneMiddleby Ltd

Thurne is renowned for its highquality precisionengineered industrial slicing systems for bacon cooked meats and cheese drawing on 50 years of industry experience. Since its establishment the company has been a leader in highspeed slicing equipment. All assembly is performed by skilled mechanical and electrical engineers at the Norwich UK headquarters which features inhouse component production capabilities including multiaxis CNC machining and welding.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble/fit components guided by technical drawings
  • Populate panel components guided by technical drawings and edrawing instructions within defined time limits
  • Wire machines completely to a high standard
  • Repair maintain and test equipment and machinery if needed remove/repair components to return its operational condition
  • Assist in improving methods and productivity
  • Adhere to Health and Safety standards as set out in regulations and by the company

Working Week

Core working hours will be 39 hours from 7am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday. Friday working hours will be from 7am to 2:30pm.

Desired Qualities

  • GCSE 4/C or equivalent in English and Maths
  • An interest in Engineering
  • Punctual and reliable
  • A strong work ethic and eager to learn
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Training Information

Training will be with Swarm REAGIT. The apprentice will work towards the Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician. Apprentices will spend 20 weeks at the Swarm REAGIT in Norwich from September 2025. After these initial 20 weeks the apprentice will attend the site 1 day per week for 72 weeks to complete the developing knowledge element of the apprenticeship.
