About IPSD
Caterpillars Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine Petroleum Industrial Applications Electric Generators and Locomotives. Job Summary:
As a Facilities Controls Engineer you will be responsible to maintain update trouble and improve the controls system for industrial machining equipment and integrated robotic assemblies across a machine shop.
What You Will Do:
Provide Controls Engineering support for industrial machines including but not limited to CNC machining centers using Siemens S7/TIA/Starter/WinCCflex Fanuc Ladder 3 Fanuc R30i robots Kuka KR C4/5 robots Cognix Insight/Dataman and Bosch/Rexroth controllers.
Modify / Program PLC/HMI/PMC and NC based machines.
Provide Controls Engineering support on vision systems robotics and data management.
Participate in the specification installation and launch of new equipment from a controls perspective.
Work with maintenance to assist in machine troubleshooting repair and training maintenance technicians as necessary. Proficiency with oscilloscopes soldering and thermal imaging cameras preferred.
Support asset health analysis to enable informed decision making by facility leadership.

Analyzes and synthesizes information and devises alternative resolution strategies.
Develops successful resolutions to critical or wideimpact problems.
Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan organize monitor and control projects ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
Level Working Knowledge:
Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.
Under guidance plans and estimates simple projects.
Assists in detailed project plans including cost schedule and resource requirements.
Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.
Produces standard project status reports.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledgeable and capable of troubleshooting and / or modifying programs on various types of PLCs: Allen Bradley Modicon Siemens Fanuc Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and data management.
Level Extensive Experience:
Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.
Resolves difficult or highimpact equipment and systems problems.
Monitors machine performance and history; addresses excessive maintenance or repair needs.
Coaches others how to resolve integration or communications problems in multivendor environment.
Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.
Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performancerelated problems.
Ability read ladder diagrams and schematics (Electrical hydraulic and pneumatic).
Intermediate logic programming VFD and servo motor amplifier/NC (Siemens and Fanuc) and IP Networking skills and background.

Summary Pay Range:
$87480.00 $131280.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market locationjobrelated knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
