Job Description
THE POSITION
Are you looking to steer your career in a new direction Consider the role of Driver License Examiner with the Department of Transportation where you will play a vital role in enhancing highway safety. This position allows you to leverage your analytical skills to assess the qualifications of of both commercial (CDL) and noncommercial driver license applicants. By joining our committed team you will showcase your customer service abilities while assisting at the Driver License Center a key aspect of which involves scrutinizing identity documents to prevent identity theft and fraud.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Utilizing your keen observation skills to evaluate the physical and driving qualifications of applicants as well as assess the mechanical condition of vehicles to ensure they meet the safety standards required for driving. You will conduct various vision tests including telebinocular and color perception assessments alongside administering knowledge examinations for both noncommercial and commercial driver licenses ensuring candidates are wellversed in the Vehicle Code and traffic signage. Your meticulous attention to detail will be crucial as you scrutinize documents such as applications birth certificates Social Security cards marriage certificates court records proof of residency and official papers from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service Department of Homeland Security U.S. State Department and foreign nations to verify their authenticity. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Fulltime employment 80 hours biweekly
- Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM Tuesday Saturday with a 30minute lunch.
- Overtime and travel as needed
- Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration);or
- Two years of experience obtaining evaluating and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements:- This position require an active Pennsylvania noncommercial Class C Drivers License or equivalent and twentyone years of age at the time of application.
- This position require no suspensions or revocations of a drivers license during the five year period immediately preceding employment.
- All employees in this job hired after February 28 2022 are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M drivers license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
- This position requires possession of an active Class A Pennsylvania Commercial Drivers License or equivalent with the following endorsements: P and N. The Commercial Driver License cannot have any of the following restrictions: E L N O or Z.
