About the role

Bring your technical trade experience to our Field Engineering and Support team. Band 3 Salary Range $96000 $118000

  • Trade qualified electrician with underground/substation experience
  • Opportunity to uptake further education (study)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced trade qualified technician with distribution network experience to join our Operations team at TasNetworks! As a first point of contact for the team the Engineering Technician is responsible for providing timely technical advice and guidance to Operations Delivery ensuring consistency with standards and industry best practice. The Engineering Technician plays an important role in reviewing defects and managing emerging asset risks working closely with field crews external contractors suppliers and engineers.

A key aspect of the position is supporting the adoption of change and improvement to our operations such as new equipment technology and work practices. An Engineering Technician provides the team with practical experience and skills to ensure engineering initiatives are acceptable and sustainable.

About you

You will have extensive trade and field experience in distribution networks OR hold a Diploma or Associate Degree in Engineering with a desire to undertake professional development in the engineering field. Familiarity with electrical network operation and maintenance is required as well as the ability to interpret and practically apply engineering standards and industry guidelines in an operational environment. Setting you apart from others is your in depth understanding of distribution assets testing augmentation and construction.

The successful candidate will have also have

  • High degree of problem solving organisational and time management skills
  • Welldeveloped communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite such as Word and Excel
  • Ability to work effectively as a team to prioritise and manage stakeholder needs
  • Ability to travel across the state to attend site visits and depot catch up sessions
