Why your role matters

Play a key role in supporting research projects as part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers in the area of Mass Spectrometry within the Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Facility (BMSF). The BMSF is a research training facility within the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre (MWAC with expertise in Proteomics Lipidomics small molecule and Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS).

The Research Officer will be responsible for the successful completion of GC/MS LC/MS and/or IRMS projects by supporting researchers and users who access the BMSF. The role will also participate in routine and developmental projects to expand the types of mass spectrometry capabilities within the BMSF and will be responsible for multiple instruments within the BMSF.

The role of Research Officer reports to the Director Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Facility and has no direct reports.

Who you are

You have a relevant degree and or equivalent experience along with knowledge of bioanalytical mass spectrometry and separation systems &/or small molecule analytical methodologies. Experience in analytical chemistry or biological research practical experience with quantitative small molecule chromatography (e.g. UPLC GC SRM SIM) and data analysis in mass spectrometry (including EA IRMS) is essential.

Youll also be able to demonstrate your strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team. Understanding UNSW values policies and guidelines and knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training is also required.
