Job summary
The Advisor Social Media and Media will provide proactive management of social media activities from end to end including sourcing and researching stories content creation video production original text graphic design and publishing. Wellversed in all social media platforms and has the ability to both write and distribute media materials when necessary.

How you will make a difference
  • Supporting the Director to provide strategic advice and counsel to members of the executive team and board on the implementation and alignment of the strategic plan on the OMAs social platforms and through traditional media.
  • Supporting for the Director in leading the development of social media content to ensure initiatives that are essential to the members and mission of the OMA such as negotiations advocacy and member services are positioned and highlighted appropriately.
  • Generating dynamic creative and engaging social media content (including photos videos graphics creation) to increase the Ontario Medical Associations advocacy across all owned social media channels (LinkedIn X Instagram Facebook YouTube TikTok).
  • Collaborating with the communications team to support social media efforts with overall campaigns and initiatives.
  • Coordinating with internal departments to gather content and ensure consistent messaging. Monitor account activity and engage in regular community management
  • Supporting in the management of all OMA social media accounts.
  • Creating and contributing to content calendars while overseeing the scheduling and regular posting of OMA on our social media channels.
  • Staying up to date with the latest social media trends tools and best practices
  • Encouraging and providing support for member dialogue and participation on social platforms that influence health policy and government direction consistent with the OMAs advocacy plan.
  • Creating and managing the OMA persona and voice to leverage and promote the OMA brand on current and emerging social platforms as well as traditional media. Generate plan and execute fresh innovative content ideas that resonate with our public audience while representing members. Craft written visual and audiovisual content that supports the OMAs strategy and brand and is uniquely curated to perform on each of our platforms. Establish a consistent OMA identity through tailored messaging and a unified look and feel.
  • Liaising with members to create a vibrant and engaged community on social media. Organize member outreach to improve participation in OMA social media content and provide support to members in establishing and growing their own social media profiles. Ensure all OMA traditional and social media content reflects the members voice and that members see themselves in the content. Create true twoway communication with our members through social media.
  • Analyzing data from traditional and social media platforms and publishing tools to generate insights on content performance. Implement data learningsinto future social media content strategies and plans to improve content performance and grow audiences across all platforms. Identify emerging social media trends and act quickly to produce content that capitalizes on the trends of the day.
  • Monitoring issues emerging in the media or on social media that may impact the OMA or its members.
  • Working collaboratively across the department to identify storytelling and content creation opportunities that leverage both member and public earned and paid social and media relations initiatives to ensure an integrated approach to achieving impact on OMA priorities with our key audiences.

Requirements that are important to us
  • Undergraduate degree in Public Relations Communications Journalism or equivalent.
  • 57 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience delivering media projects utilizing multiple communications channels.
  • Experience in crafting media materials and social media content; including shooting and editing video for a variety of social media channels
  • Experience in graphic design
  • Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently prioritizing and managing workflow.
  • Sound knowledge of media operations with contacts across print radio television and online; experience in liaising with and pitching to the media and a proven ability to obtain coverage.
  • High level of organization for self and others including a high level of detail orientation.
  • Very strong project planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully in any situation.
  • Problemsolving orientation with a focus on proactive mitigation.

The OMA has moved to a permanent hybrid work environment. As such the individual in this position will be required to work a minimum number of days in our Toronto office.
