First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System is seeking to employ a Physician Assistant (PAC) to join their Trauma / Emergency General Surgery team at Sarasota Memorial Hospital on the night shift 6:00 P.M. 6:00 A.M.. The Trauma team includes nine 9 Trauma Surgeons and 23 Advanced Practice Providers to cover an ADC of 4060 patients with seasonal fluctuations.
Sarasota Memorial Hospital is a CMS 5Star rated hospital for overall quality. The only hospital in Florida and one of just 17 hospitals in the U.S. to receive the highest fivestar rating in all reporting periods since the programs inception in 2016. Sarasota Memorial Hospital Sarasota recently went through its fifth consecutive Magnet recognition survey from the ANCC the credentialing body of the American Nurses Association a humbling achievement that fewer than 1 of the nations hospitals have attained.
Today we are a fullservice public health system with two hospitals and a Cancer Institute offering specialized expertise in heart vascular cancer orthopedic and neuroscience services and a network of outpatient centers urgent care centers laboratories diagnostic imaging and physician practices skilled nursing and rehabilitation among our many programs. We are a Level II Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center

The Physician Assistant (PA) reflects the mission vision and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies procedures guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The PA III typically works in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist procedures (chest tube line placement etc) multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care trauma and surgery. A PA is a graduate with a masters degree or certificate from an accredited physician assistant program at an accredited school or college. The PA functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide highquality costeffective advanced care to patients. The PA is licensed by the Florida Board of Medicine and the Board of Osteopathic Medicine to perform medical services delegated by the supervising physician(s).
Require current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Require bachelor degree from accredited physician assistant training program.
Prefer ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Prefer demonstrated written & verbal communication & strong analytical skills.
Prefer ability to work independently and effectively with physicians and other allied health personnel in the hospital and/or office setting.
Prefer demonstrated clinical competency skills.
Prefer demonstrated knowledge of pharmacology as it relates to health care practice and current prescription writing skills/DEA licensing.
Prefer demonstrated skills in documentation in medical records to substantiate accurate billing.
Prefer effective interaction skills to ensure the successful care of patients in the clinical setting.
Prefer effective leadership and strong interpersonal skills.
Prefer knowledge of relevant state and federal laws statutes and regulations.
Prefer knowledge of state federal and local health care agencies and programs.
