About the role:

Boston Scientific has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer with the injection molding team at our Maple Grove facility. Our team is dedicated to serving Boston Scientific as an elite technology development team that delivers highquality scalable and costcompetitive injection molded component processes. We directly support Boston Scientifics mission to bring new lifechanging medical solutions to patients around the role will work on a wide variety of technically challenging injection molding components leading in partnership with our R&D and Manufacturing functional groups. Youll develop and implement new technology that will enable unique design solutions as well as improve manufacturing robustness efficiency and are looking for a motivated selfdriven and technically apt individual that can drive in a diverse and fastpaced environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop robust injection molding processes using industry standard methods
  • Identify and deliver required documentation to meet quality systems requirements for commercialization
  • Execute tool design project deliverables and overall delivery by leading component development including prototyping spec development ROI analysis design verification process validation and ultimately commercial transfer
  • Assess process capabilities prioritize process improvement opportunities innovate and implement process improvements on platform or derivative projects
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally to ensure alignment of design manufacturing and quality requirements
  • Ensure visibility and closure of process issues (e.g. yields cost capability etc. per project milestones and in collaboration with Production Area Strategies
  • Plan organize and conduct all aspects of technical reviews
  • May serve as a Technical Review Board member or other consulting role
  • May serve as molding component project lead
  • May train and/or provide work direction to engineers technicians and manufacturing personnel
  • Champion functional best practices and new technology initiatives
  • Exercise authority and judgement within generally defined practices and policies to obtain solutions
  • Accountable for development builds associated with the project such as special work requests
  • Accountable for developing qualified tooling and production line equipment
  • Establish and cultivate a wide range of business relationships to facilitate completion of initiatives
  • Interact with other internal and external personnel in significant matters requiring coordination between organizations
  • Represent organization as a prime contact on projects
  • Contribute ideas to or generate Intellectual Property submissions
  • Establish and promote an inclusive work environment that supports the Quality Policy and Quality System
  • May travel up to 10

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Materials Science with 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong mechanical acumen and/or materials background (e.g. mechanical engineering polymers injection molding)
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver project responsibilities both selfdriven and collaboratively
  • Willingness to work crossfunctionally and with other BSC sites
  • Ability to work well within a strong team environment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics Engineering; or Bachelor of Science in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering with strong plastics background
  • Functional understanding of DFM medical device design control regulated quality systems and the product development process
  • Previous injection molding experience materials background and/or related technologies
  • Prior experience with Engel (ideal) Sodick Niessi Arburg and/or Boy molders
  • Prior experience or knowledge of injection mold tooling fabrication
  • Prior experience with robot programming and/or endofarm tooling development
  • Prior experience with vision and/or inspection systems (e.g. Cognex Keyence)
  • Scientific Molding and/or Master Molder certification
  • Strong statistical background

Maximum Salary: $156900

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) see vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training pertinent education including licensure and certifications among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for nonexempt (hourly) nonsales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g. any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

Compensation for exempt nonsales roles may also include variable compensation i.e. annual bonus target and longterm incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
