Job Description

Job Title:Substation Apprentice Technician (Little Rock)

Work Place Flexibility: Onsite

Legal Entity:Entergy Arkansas LLC

* This position may be filled as a Substation Apprentice 1st Year through a Substation Technician based on the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate. *

* The selected candidatemust live within or be willing to relocate within 30miles/minutes of the assigned service area and this role does not offer relocation benefits. *

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

While working safely employee will maintain install test and repair breakers transformers regulators and associated electrical equipment in substations and power plants. Employee will maintain a safe and healthy work environment with coworkers and management personnel. Employee must have the ability to perform switching on both distribution and transmission substation equipment.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to obtain Substation switchman certification.
  • Familiarity in reading understanding and following technical manuals and instruction books.
  • Familiarity in the use of AC and DC schematics wiring diagrams and construction drawings.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
  • Able to climb structures ladders operate lift trucks and work without fear of height.
  • Able to perform routine and emergency maintenance testing initial installation and restoration of substations and related equipment.
  • Able to perform substation switching and practice safe tagging and grounding procedures.
  • Must be available for 24hour callout and to work extended hours.
  • Must obtain a valid CDL within 180 days.
  • Good physical condition and able to lift 100 pounds.
  • Good handeye coordination physical dexterity and color vision.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with coworkers and relate to customers.
  • Good computer skills and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Be selfmotivated with ability to make independent decisions.
  • Able to work near energized equipment safely.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Any Certificates Licenses Etc.:

  • Successful completion of theEEI CASTtest.
  • Candidates selected to take the CAST Test will be invited via email.*MONITOR YOUR SPAM/JUNK FOLDER
  • If you are EEI CAST Test Recommended notateit on your resume.
  • Preferred: Background in mechanical/electric machines/ mechanic shop/hydraulic repairs or motor vehicle repairs.
