Job Description
The University of Saint Mary is conveniently located a short 30 minute drive from Parkville Shawnee Basehor and Kansas City Kansas.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Adjunct Instructor will teach basic accounting courses offered in our Prison Education Program. Adjunct faculty must be credentialed in the area of instruction and must be able to pass a background check. All courses in the Prison Education Program are taught inperson synchronously.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Teach Principles of Accounting I Accounting II
- Prepare syllabi and deliver curriculum appropriate for the course assigned;
- Maintain effective and timely student assessment and feedback;
- Manage and foster an inclusive educational environment to serve all learners;
- Maintain student attendance records in accordance with university policy;
- Submit midterm and final grades on time;
- Demonstrate professionalism with students faculty staff and administration;
- Timely attendance at all required training Division meetings and universityrelated meetings;
- Complete all required training including training on Engage LMS
- Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with students faculty staff and administrators.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to prison rehabilitation.
- Masters degree in credentialed area of teaching or masters degree 18 credits in subject area
- Minimum of three years teaching at the college level required.
- Philosophically aligned with the mission and values of USM
- Experience working in a prison preferred.
- Ability to pass Department of Corrections/KBI background check required.
