Classification:NONEXEMPTStatus & Schedule:PARTTIME MON FRI 8AM 5PM PT Location:LOCAL TO COOS COUNTY Salary:$25.76 $32.96/hourly Department:COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENTReports to:COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER Supervision Exercised:NONSUPERVISORY Job Purpose: Tribal Relations Coordination This position serves as the single point of contact at Advanced Health Coordinated Care Organization (CCO) for Oregon Federally Recognized Tribes the Urban Indian Health (UIH) Program and Oregon Health Authority (OHA)Tribal Affairs. This position is responsible for a range of liaison functions to improve the physical behavioral and oral health of American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) CCO members. They will communicate with network providers members and other stakeholders in the CCO service area to coordinate this work. All work will be conducted through the lens of improving health equity for all vulnerable populations. Qualifications Education & Experience - Degree in Social Work Public Health Communications Health Care Administration Political Science or related field preferred; experience in lieu of education may be considered
- Three years experience in volunteer coordination project coordination or community outreach
- Three years experience working in healthcare field with AI/AN tribal entities and programs
- Experience with the Indian Health Services/Tribal Health/Urban Indian Health Program delivery system preferred
- Experience with Oregons Coordinated Care Organization Model preferred
- Experience with and understanding of governmenttogovernment relationships between states and sovereign tribal nations
Essential Responsibilities: Tribal Relations Coordination - Fully understands the tribal health system and how it interacts with the CCO
- Provides recommendations and assists with resolutions to issues related to the delivery of health care services to AI/AN CCO members
- Promotes services and programs to improve the health equity of AI/AN CCO members including but not limited to; improved access to integrated coordinated care develop and implement new initiatives foster interagency collaboration and assist with contracts and agreements with tribal entities
- Actively participates in the development and implementation of the Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plans (CHPs)
- Serves as a contact to the Tribal Advisory Council (TAC) and reports to the TAC on a quarterly basis
- Meets regularly and at a mutually agreed upon time with local tribal representative(s) to discuss Tribal/CCO related issues
- Attends all meetings where decisionmaking may have an impact on the CCOs relationship with tribal entities
- Attends trainings to expand knowledge of principles that are foundational to working with and understanding tribes and tribal communities
- Develops and conducts training and technical assistance for health providers and others working with tribal health systems
- Assists with CCO health care system training and education programs and matters relating to Tribal communities specific concerns
- Collaborates with tribalcultural and prevention programs to expand services in the areas of Public Health and Behavioral Health including but not limited to Crisis Services Suicide Prevention Alcohol Tobacco and other Drug Prevention and Diabetes Prevention
- Communicates with CCO leadership to bring issues forward that are concerning to Tribal and UIH Programs and address accordingly
- Facilitates a resolution of issues that arise between the CCO and Indian Health Services (IHS) providers within the CCO
- Participate in quality and organizational process improvement activities and teams when requested
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures as applicable to area(s) of responsibility
- Handle confidential information and materials appropriately and maintain a secure work area

- Familiarity with the principles of tribal sovereignty as well as relevant federal state and tribal laws policies and regulations

- Ability to develop and implement longterm strategies for engaging with tribes and advancing mutual goals
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws/regulations comparable programs and policies
- Current knowledge of national health care delivery trends transformation reform and valuebased payment trends new technologies and statewide and national economic issues impacting tribal health programs and the
- health and wellbeing of AI/AN CCO members
- Basic knowledge of principles methods and techniques of project management and change management
- Knowledge of community resources
- Ability to build working relationships with community partners respectfully engaging and integrating cultural considerations into decisionmaking processes
- Understanding of the nature of consumer engagement and vulnerable populations

- Indepth knowledge of regulations and procedures governing the OHP Medicare and other applicable health plans

Working Conditions: This position must have the ability to remain in a stationary position occasionally move about inside the office to access office machinery printer etc. frequently communicate and exchange accurate information. Work Condition: Hybrid work Employee generally works within the interior of an office or remote work from home environment. Employee frequently travels locally and is responsible for own transportation. Out of area travel may be required on occasion. Hours of operations and specific staff scheduling may vary based on operational need. The office environment is clean with a comfortable temperature and moderate noise level.
