Job Description
Introduction
PRESS Forward is a specially funded initiative under the Office of Violence Prevention that is designed to reduce gun violence and victimization in the City of New Haven. PRESS Forward achieves this by coalitionbuilding and intentional collaboration between relevant agencies targeting the highestrisk individuals with hyperfocused social service intervention supporting the social networks of highrisk individuals and enhancing workforce training and placement opportunities for this group.
Under the direction of the Coordinator of the Office of Violence Prevention and other relevant staff in the Department of Community Resilience the Program Coordinator is responsible for the daytoday implementation and management of the PRESS Forward initiative. All work will be done in coordination with relevant stakeholders from partner agencies and programs in accordance with the proposal and scope of work approved by the Bureau of Justice Assistance.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- With assistance from the Director of Special Projects oversees all program subcontracts.
- Oversees daytoday data collection and management of all client charting data and information systems relating to program services.
- Designs innovative and successful strategies to foster team building among PRESS Forward staff including contracted staff and volunteers.
- Leads the New Haven Violence Reduction Working Group including curating agendas distributing documents taking notes meeting individually with partners and collecting feedback from Working Group members.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports grant applications and funding proposals to secure additional resources and support for the initiative.
- Conducts quarterly community review meetings to share PRESS Forward data and integrates community feedback into programming.
- Collaborates with a research partner to manage and analyze program data and outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of program activities through regular assessments surveys and feedback mechanisms making datadriven recommendations for program enhancements.
- Develops program adjustments and implementations to present to the Working Group for adoption.
- Liaises with other related community initiatives and serves as a central contact point for all PRESS Forward partners.
- Act as a liaison between the program and relevant governmental agencies advocating for policy changes and resource allocation to support the goals of PRESS Forward.
- Collaborate with local educational institutions and vocational training centers to create tailored educational and job placement opportunities for program participants focusing on skillbuilding and career advancement.
- Coordinate with law enforcement agencies to ensure effective communication and collaboration between PRESS Forward and local law enforcement efforts promoting a cohesive approach to violence prevention.
- Distributes gift card incentives to PRESS Forward partners and works with cash assistance partner to distribute job training scholarships and essential needs funds.
- Performs other related work as required.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from an accredited 4year college or university with major course work in social services criminology public health social work or other relevant areas. 23 years of experience in Public Health or Social Service field with at least 1 year experience in program management.
KNOWLEDGE EXPERIENCE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Experience with community engagement and coalition building is required.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural nuances in providing effective services.
- Understanding of applying traumainformed practices to support individuals who have experienced violence or trauma.
- Knowledge and experience in violence prevention reentry and parent empowerment.
- Understanding of local state and federal policies related to violence prevention and the ability to advocate for policy changes that support program goals.
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools and software to interpret program data identify trends and make datadriven decisions.
- Familiarity with relevant software and tools for data management program evaluation and communication.
- Skill in planning organizing and overseeing the implementation of complex initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with community partners agencies and stakeholders.
- High degree of skill and comfort collaborating with agencies community organizations and resident groups around program implementation.
- Understanding of principles and dynamics driving collaborative initiatives and ability to balance multiple agendas and competing demands.
- Demonstrated commitment to facilitating community involvement in all aspects of program implementation.
- Keen understanding of a commitment to the need for a strong technical and operational program foundation particularly as it relates to data collection and management and contract management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to convey complex information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Skills in resolving conflicts and mediating disputes among program participants staff and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting positive supportive interactions in both management and reporting relationships.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.

SALARY BARGAINING UNIT & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a Special Fund nontested position. Continued employment contingent upon availability of future funding. Funding may be terminated at any time.
This position is included in a collective bargaining agreement with Local 3144 American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees.

Special Funded employees shall not be covered by the City pension but shall continue to be covered by Social Security.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of: 1 a preemployment background check 2 a preemployment physical examination including preemployment drug screening in accordance with the Citys Drug Free Workplace Policy* and 3 a 90day probationary period.
