Summary


King County Road Services Division is looking for dedicatedRoad Maintenance Crew Chiefs to join our team! We are looking for motivated and experienced people leaders with a strong background in overseeing the daily operations of a construction or maintenance crew. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the Road Services team and make a meaningful impact in our community.

The Maintenance Section of the Road Services Division is responsible for maintaining and improving roadways and related infrastructure in unincorporated King County and contract cities. Our goal is to preserve and enhance roadway conditions efficiently and sustainably ensuring public safety and protecting community investments. Crew Chiefs report to a Supervisor II supporting the daily oversight and operations of a maintenance crew within the section. Job Duties

Applying equity racial and social justice principles is a daily responsibility and a foundational expectation for all King County employees. In this role you will apply equity and social justice principles that exemplify shared values behaviors and practices to all aspects of the work.

To be considered for this opportunity you must at a minimum demonstrate knowledge skill and ability to:

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of Human Resource policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of King County Personnel Guidelines and Union Contracts covering maintenance employees in the trades and crafts.
  • Experience utilizing maintenance management systems such as Cityworks Maximo Hansen or M5.
NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Have a valid Washington State Drivers license or the ability to obtain one prior to start date.
  • An offer of employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of a preemployment physical examination.

WORK LOCATION:
  • We have multiple sites across King County WA. The primary base of operations is located in Renton WA with outlying maintenances facilities located in: Black Diamond Vashon Skykomish Fall City and Redmond.
    • We are currently recruiting for the following locations: Redmond WA and Fall City WA.

WHO MAY APPLY:
This recruitment is open to all qualified applicantsand may be used to fill current and or/future career service termlimited temporary shortterm temporary and or/special duty positions over the next six months.


Special duty opportunities are open only to current King County career service employees who have completed their initial probation. Special duty applicants must have approval from their current supervisor to accept an assignment. Current employees selected for special duty will be compensated based upon the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement King County Personnel Guidelines or Coalition Labor Agreement for their base assignment.

EMERGENCY DESIGNATION STATUS:
First Responder Employees who in the early stages of an incident are responsible for protecting and preserving life property evidence the environment and restoring order.
