Tentative hours: Sunday Monday Tuesday (Awake Shifts) 7:00pm to 7:00am
Job Type: Fulltime Permanent Position with Benefit Package after Probation
Salary: $44646 per year

Next Steps Housing is a supportive housing building for youth 1625 run by oneROOF Youth Services. This youth specific living and learning environment pairs independence with a mix of helpful inhouse and community resources. Continuous onsite staffing allows for quick supportive action if necessary which cultivates a sense of security for residents.
Job Skills Duties & Responsibilities:
Safely resolve crisis situations and respond nonjudgmentally to problematic behaviour
Assess needs of tenants and help and/or make referrals to various community resources
when appropriate
Crisis management and deescalation of situations among tenants
Supervision of the tenants and their guests while on property
Awareness & support of a harm reduction approach
Build selfesteem and selfefficacy in tenants
Increase life skills development
Maintain tenant files and statistics
Supportive listening and assist tenants with problems solving as requested
Demonstrate understanding of oppression and marginalization
Make positive contributions to the team support and back up your coworkers always
Support community integration and selfefficacy of tenants
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Maintain the health and safety of tenants and staff
Participate in training and staff meetings as directed by management
Clean common areas as required
Basic understanding of individual systemic and structural facets of homelessness
Effective verbal and written skills
Strong organizational skills
Computer literacy
Other duties as required
Educational and Employment assets/requirements
- A Diploma in community social services; or education in mental health addictions concurrent disorders and social work
- One year of recent related work experience with an emphasis on mental health addictions homelessness and/or social services
- Or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. We look at the whole person
- UMAB certification would be an asset
- Must have a valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Must produce a recent Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Record Check
