In this Senior Software Engineer role you will lead and develop high performance backend services and systems for GM Commercial Software. This role provides a unique opportunity where you will be working across all of the GM Commercial Software products and truly steering the future of GM Commercial Softwares system architecture APIs products and customers. What Youll do:
- Design build and maintain scalable reliable and performant services and systems
- Build and launch new capabilities and products that bring significant value to customers internal and external
- Uphold our high engineering standards. Elevate quality and engineering efficiency within our codebases.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization including product design and other engineering functions.
- Mentor engineers earlier in their technical career to help them grow.
- Explore new technologies and enrich our technological stack.
- Actively participate in technical discussions and deep dives with architectural group.
Additional Job Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent degree.
- 5 years of handson backend software development
- Experience in building productionquality highly performant and scalable distributed systems and ServiceOriented architecture
- Experience in one of the JVM languages Java / Scala / Kotlin SpringBoot.
- Experience in writing high quality production code that is tested thoroughly supported by clear documentation and has appropriate production observability
- Strong CS fundamentals including OO concepts data structures algorithms and systems architecture
- Solid understanding and experience with NoSQL and relational DB
- Empathy with users internal and external and a strong customer focus
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Skills)
- Strong product focus and acumen.
- Experience working independently and drive features or components throughout the development lifecycle
- Experience with at least one of the public cloud providers Azure AWS GCP
- Experience with IoT stack is a big plus
Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of the California Bay Area.
The salary range for this role is $ 152100 $232900. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance job level and individual performance.
