Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Director of Materials Management the Purchasing Agent is responsible for ordering supplies and assisting the Director of Materials Management with daily activities. The position will also assist and provide coverage for Materials Technicians (I & II) and Courier as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Understands and is able to perform the Essential Functions of the Materials Technicians (I & II) to intermittently fills these roles as needed.

Reviews and check for accuracy specification and need and processes all approved orders and requisitions.

Place orders with vendors via phone fax or online entry. Maintains files and source documents

Works with Accounts Payable on invoice discrepancies and report to Director of Materials Management all major or consistent price discrepancies.

Coordinates all product returns with various vendors and the Materials clerk

Performs periodic inventories to check for accuracy of the system in place

Performs other duties as assigned or requested to support the overall needs of the department and in accordance with Curry Health Networks Mission Vision and Shared Values.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; some education in inventory management or supply requisition processing is preferred.
  • A valid unencumbered Oregon state drivers license is required.
  • Experience working with inventory controls supply ordering requisition processing and or stocking inventory preferred.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical supplies is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills are required including knowledge of MS Word Excel and Outlook.
  • An ability to learn new software applications is also required (e.g. CPSI).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required along with an ability to work as an effective member of a team.
  • Requires an ability to write and read comprehensively in English.
  • Basic math skills are required including the ability to add subtract multiply & divide.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage a stressful work environment that includes frequent interruption is required.

Close distance color peripheral depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

This job requires exposure to the following environmental conditions:

None of the time: Wet/humid fumes/airborne particles; toxic/caustic chemicals

Extreme heat/cold; risk of electrical shock work with explosives ; risk of radiation; vibration

Up to 1/3 of the time: near moving mechanical parts; Outdoor weather

From 1/3 to 1/2 of the time: No requirement

The typical noise level for the work environment is: quiet to loud noise

Hearing requirements: ability to hear instructions.

This job requires the following repetitive motion actions:

From 1 2 hours per day: Grasping: firm/heavy

From 34 hours per day: Repetitive use of foot control

From 56 hours per day: Grasping: simple/light

From 7 hours per day: Repetitive use of hands; Fine Dexterity
