Job Description
Position Summary
Fresno Pacific University is seeking a skilled and motivated Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer to contribute to the overall health safety and performance of its studentathletes. Reporting to the Director and Clinical Coordinator of Sports Medicine this position plays a critical role in the daily operations of the Sports Medicine Department. Responsibilities include supporting injury prevention treatment and rehabilitation efforts as well as providing coverage for athletic events and practices. The role also involves supervising Athletic Training Students coordinating medical clearances and assisting with administrative functions to ensure efficient and effective delivery of care. Duties:
- Assists in the daily care prevention treatment and rehabilitation of athleticrelated injuries.
- Assists with the daily operation of the Sports Medicine Clinic.
- Assists in maintaining a system of injury reports and daily treatment records on all studentathletes.
- Assists in the supervision of the Athletic Training Students clinical experience n the Sports Medicine Clinic.
- Administers emergency care and makes medical referrals.
- Facilitates communication among studentathlete physician and coach.
- Adheres to established policies and procedures.
- Provides direct care as a Certified Athletic Trainer to all studentathletes and is assigned sports which may require travel.
- Educates and counsels coaching staff studentathletes Athletic Training Students and coworkers.
- Conducts performance evaluations for Athletic Training Students.
- Ensures efficient patient flow in the Sports Medicine Clinic.
- Monitors documentation of athleticrelated injuries into Sportsware system.
- Maintains continuing education units required by the NATA.
- Complies with NCAA medical regulations and Conference Athletic Trainers Handbook.
- Monitors compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding documentation for medical hardship waivers.
- Provides studentathletes and coaches with rules education regarding use of banned substances and drug testing.
- Provides studentathletes and coaches with rules education regarding NCAA and institutional insurance programs.
- Supervises and monitors ineligibility for the use of banned consistent with NCAA Bylaws.
- Assists in compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding daily and weekly hour limitations.
- Assists in compliance with NCAA tobacco ban for coaches and studentathletes.
- Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive complete and accurate
- Communicates clearly listens attentively and seeks to understand others
- Collaborates productively with colleagues of varying skillset
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine or Clinical Coordinator of Sports Medicine.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree
- Certification through the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification.
- First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification OR Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification by the American Red Cross OR American Heart Association
- Graduated from a CAATE Approved Athletic Training Program
- Evidence of a strong commitment to an evangelical Christian philosophy and lifestyle
- Demonstrated knowledge of current thinking in the five 5 domains of Athletic Training
- Demonstrated ability to lead motivate and minister to studentathletes
- Ability to work under pressure exuding a mature demeanor while multitasking in a deadlineoriented environment with accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team as well as an independent contributor.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretionary skills in determining when to act independently and when to consult management prior to taking action.
- Selfstarter with a positive attitude.
Environmental Conditions:
- Work is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor athletic settings including training rooms gyms fields and athletic facilities.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions during outdoor practices and competitions including heat cold rain and wind.
- May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids; adherence to proper safety and hygiene protocols is required.
- Fastpaced and physically active environment often requiring multitasking during highpressure situations such as games or practices.
- Public contact position requiring professional apparel personal hygiene and grooming.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to perform the manual tasks associated with manual therapy for both evaluation and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
- Frequent standing walking bending kneeling and reaching.
- Ability to lift push or pull equipment or injured athletes occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to react quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
- May be required to remain on feet for extended periods during events or training sessions.
- Regular use of hands and arms for manual therapy taping bracing and equipment use.
- Occasional travel and extended hours including evenings and weekends based on the athletic schedule.
University Information
The starting annual salary for this position is $68640 which reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this role. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as qualifications experience and internal equity. In addition to salary Fresno Pacific University offers a competitive benefits package.
