DescriptionAbouttheWorkUnit:
The Wan research laboratory in the department of Biochemistry at Vanderbilt University investigates the molecular mechanisms that drive viral life cycles in host do this by either infecting cells with live viruses or for higher biosafety level viruses using plasmidbased modelling systems; we then study these cells to obtain molecular insights into the hostpathogen interactions. The primary techniques used in the lab include molecular biology molecular virology live cell fluorescence microscopy and cryoelectron tomography (cryoET). While our lab has a strong focus on methods development we also incorporate a range of biochemical and biophysical approaches in pursuing our biological aims.
