This role is part of the Advanced Technology team in the Digital eXperience Group */dxg) which cocreates stateoftheart products and solutions with Wolters Kluwer businesses around the globe. Our growing array of solutions supports the expanding set of Wolters Kluwers Expert Solutions and online product portfolios. Within */dxg the Advanced Technology (AT) Group serves as WKs AI and machine learning (ML) center of excellence integrating AI/ML into products across divisions. While focusing on large language models (LLMs) AT also applies classical ML techniques to enhance product capabilities.
This role supports our Health division. One of its flagship products UpToDate is trusted by over 1 million clinicians in over 170 countries to make the best decisions at the point of patient care. More than 60 research studies confirm UpToDates widespread usage and association with improved patient care and hospital performance including reduced lengths of stay adverse complications and mortality.
In the role of Principal AI Engineer & Applied Researcher you will take early ideas and build prototypes while experimenting with advanced technologies and platforms. You should be willing to take on challenges of unknown dimensions and work hand in hand with clinicians customers engineers and data scientists to prototype and test early concepts. You will need to have very strong technical skills deep curiosity business acumen and the ability to think fast and act fast.
Overview
We are seeking a Principal AI Engineer & Applied Researcher who combines a strong scientific and engineering foundation with a practical solutionoriented mindset to support the Health division. This role focuses on building impactful AI solutions that address realworld challenges and deliver measurable value. Position Responsibilities
- Develop and Deploy AI Solutions: Design and implement reliable and highperforming code for AIproducts that deliver measurable business impact.
- CrossFunctional Collaboration: Work effectively with product engineering and subject matter experts to ensure alignment on meeting customer needs.
- Drive Innovation: Identify evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies to ensure optimal solutions aligned with business value.
- Advance Research: Contribute through product innovations published research or intellectual property that integrates cuttingedge advancements.
- Foster Best Practices: Establish and uphold best practices in AI/ML including rigorous testing validation and documentation. Mentor and guide team members to foster a culture of scientific excellence and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Youre a fit for the role of AI Engineer & Applied Researcher if you have:
- A Bachelors Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science Artificial Intelligence or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- 7 years of experience developing and deploying AI/ML systems in production.
- Proven success in translating complex customer challenges into highquality impactful AI solutions.
- Advanced understanding of large language models including best practices in combining LLMs with search enhancing with domainspecific content and evaluation.
- Proficiency in software development encompassing version control testing and CI/CD pipelines with demonstrated knowledge in cloud environments such as AWS Azure and GCP.
******Ability to work onsite in WK location Tuesdays and Wed and remote Mondays Thursdays and Fridays********************
