Job Description

Engineering Technician

Our client a company that manufactures and supplies products used by electric utilities is growing fast! We seek one exceptional individual to join a new product development team based out of Monroe NC. The Engineering Technician will be responsible for supporting engineering and production by building prototypes conducting tests analyzing results and troubleshooting. The Engineering Technician will also be responsible for operating and maintaining various test equipment as needed for product verification and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the design tests for new product development projects
    • Build prototypes determining and applying best practices
    • Manage and conduct various design tests to validate new designs
    • Coordinate with lab manager and technicians (including external labs) to help schedule & plan tests and shipping of prototypes
    • Analyze and document test results
    • Troubleshoot issues experienced during testing
    • Manage and organize inventory of prototype parts
    • Maintain tools and equipment used for testing
    • Design/Create necessary fixtures and tooling for testing
    • Travel to external labs to assist with test object preparation and oversight of tests
  • Work directly with design engineers
    • Provide input for design and drawings
    • Provide feedback regarding assembly and observations from design tests
    • Participate in design reviews
  • Support production
    • Create work instructions for assembly of new products
    • Troubleshoot production issues
    • Train production personnel on assembly and routine testing procedures and best practices
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related field is preferred
  • Product testing experience
  • Strong handson mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of complex tasks with minimal guidance
  • Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting and problemsolving
  • Strong interest in learning and developing new skills
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes materials selections
  • Experience with drafting/computer modeling is a plus!
  • Ability to operate and maintain test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation
