Job Description

Minimum Job Requirements

  • RN Licensure within the State of Florida or MultiState Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • American Heart Association BLS maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • 24 years of RN Clinical experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • BSN Degree preferred.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification preferred.
  • 1 year Charge Nurse experience preferred.
  • Nursing experience in a Pediatric healthcare setting preferred.
  • Career Development: National certified preferably within 2 years of hire.
  • Ability to positively influence and hold self and others accountable.
  • Strong problem solving critical thinking and conflict resolution skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and strong time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word Excel an PowerPoint.
  • Able to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Able to apply principles of evidencedbased practice analytical thinking and service excellence in practice.
  • Able to analyze and interpret data and utilize the information to make judgments regarding patient care.
  • Ability to use logical and scientific thinking to interpret technical data solve a broad range of operational and clinical problems.
  • Compliance with all standards for safety risk management DNVISO regulatory and infection prevention as required by enforcement agencies.
  • Membership within a Nursing Professional Organization.

Job Summary

Assists physicians and office leadership with clinical and administrative duties. Supports clinical staff and assists with coordination of patient care to deliver high quality patient experience. Performs assigned nursing duties under the direction of physician. Utilizes effective problemsolving strategies applies evidencebased practice and a multidisciplinary approach in the plan of care. Provides rapid assessment treatment patient and family education and assures continuity of care through the discharge planning process. Accountable for formal and informal staff education orientation and initial/annual competencies. Identifies learning needs develops and implements educational strategies and evaluates learning effectiveness. Supervises the acquisition of knowledge skills and attitudes to support the provision of safe and highquality care.

Job Specific Duties

  • Coordinates and monitors patient flow utilizing appropriate resources and facilitates the processes in a timely manner.
  • Provides education and documents on patient/family teachings based on healthrelated needs.
  • Ensures safe/effective/efficient care delivery with emphasis on absence of medication errors & blood borne infections avoidance of falls from surface ouchfree procedural pain & reduction of pain.
  • Demonstrates proper personal protective equipment (PPE) indication and use.
  • Reviews medication/immunization orders. Prepares administers and documents medication administration according to policy.
  • Processes refills as directed by provider and written protocols.
  • Develops coordinates monitors facilitates conducts evaluates and supervises new employee progress during orientation period.
  • Fosters staff empowerment and open communication leads and guides staff to build a high performance and engaged team.
  • Functions as a patient advocate and provides family support. Ensures parent education diagnosisrelated discharge planning and wellness training (parenting skills).
  • Accountable for completion of the annual competency assessment process and plan through collaboration with nurse leaders Learning & Development department and regulatory leaders.
  • Applies evidencebased practices to orientation and ongoing education applying adult learning and education principles.
  • Ensures all staff is adhering to the Health System policies and procedures.
  • Supports and upholds the Hospital Mission Vision Values and Guiding Behavior Patient Bill of Rights and the Code of Business and Ethical Conduct.
  • Provides timely mentoring and coaching to clinical staff supervising the quality of care.
  • Communicates and documents pertinent information (verbal and/or electronic) in a timely manner to the Ambulatory Health System Leaders including nursing medical and operations.
  • Communicates issues concerns and conducts crisis management upon identification by staff or management to coordinate and support.
  • Provides judgment and selfsufficiency in effective problem solving while serving as clinical and operational resource for the Ambulatory Health System network.
  • Provides support during internal/external disasters or other major events. Reacts effectively to unplanned circumstances demands and challenges facing the Ambulatory Health System. Monitors emergency action procedures and coordinates activities related to patient and staff safety.
  • Serves as a clinical Health System resource to centers departments service lines and departmental support departments. Supervises patient care by providing support to clinical operational and facility services.
  • Identifies clinical strengths and opportunities reassigns patient assignments to support clinical competency and coaches/mentors employees to improve performance and clinical outcomes.
  • Actively participates in the performance review process through chart reviews and validating timeliness of charting. Ensures all requirements are met.
