The Opportunity

Halifax Water is hiring for the job of SSO/CSO Program Manager. This is a regular opportunity in the Asset Management Team within the Engineering and Capital Infrastructure Department. This job has full time hours.

What the Asset Management Team does:

  • Delivers asset management and infrastructure master planning projects
  • Leads investigations to confirm levels of service fill data gaps and determine asset condition
  • Administers key data collection programs that inform work done by other departments
  • Coordinates annual capital budget development
  • Provides regular reporting on Halifax Waters assets (state of good repair and planning for our future services)
  • Supports Halifax Waters response to customers service expectations and growth demands

As a SSO/CSO Program Manager you will:

  • Work under the direction of the Manager Data Engineering to manage the delivery of the Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) and Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) Management Program.
  • Be involved in project management oversight coordinating data information requests managing project schedules and budgets liaising with stakeholders and ensuring the successful implementation of the program.
  • Work crossfunctionally with other teams and departments at Halifax Water to identify and implement the required data collection quality monitoring and reporting processes required to meet regulatory compliance and improved infrastructure planning.

To do this job you need:

  • A postsecondary education in Engineering (civil municipal environmental or equivalent).
  • A Professional Engineer . designation and be eligible for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Five years of progressively responsible related engineering experience with a focus on municipal engineering longterm infrastructure planning or asset management.
  • Experience with combined sewers overflow reduction and inflow and infiltration reduction issues.
  • Project management experience in the areas of planning design and implementing capital projects for municipal systems.
