Introduction



Cape Henlopens beaches attract thousands of visitors who enjoy everything from ocean swimming boating fishing and kayaking to clamming paddleboarding and windsurfing. But Cape Henlopen offers more than just the ocean and bays. A wide selection of activities and programs for children and adults are led by Seaside Nature Center staff each week.

Summary Statement

A variety of seasonal park positions are available at Cape Henlopen State Park which may include the following:

Campground Registrar/Store Attendants: $15.00 responsible for all aspects of camp registration database management and camp store operations.

Custodial: $15.00 responsible for the custodial cleaning of bathrooms facilities and offices.

Grounds: $15.00 responsible for the maintenance of grounds facilities and equipment in the park along with maintaining trails.

Revenue Attendant (Fee Collector): $15.00 responsible for welcoming park visitors disseminating information and collecting and accounting for park entrance fees.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.

Applicants must be available to work weekends evenings and holidays as scheduled.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.

  • May collect appropriate rental fees.
  • May register campers into computer database and generate reports as needed.
  • May assist with maintenance and rental equipment.
  • May perform grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing trimming athletic field maintenance landscape bed maintenance trash removal vegetation removal leaf removal and snow/ice removal.
  • May perform custodial services in restrooms offices and other buildings.
  • Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility dependability and good communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently willing to work in remote areas.
  • Duties will vary for each position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Applicants for all positions must have education training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Campground Registrar/Store Attendants
1. Six months customer service experience.
2. Six months experience in cash handling and writing receipts.
3. Six months experience in standard computer software programs for word processing spreadsheets or databases.

Maintenance Custodial/Grounds
1. Must be at least 18 years of age.
2. Experience using landscaping equipment and hand or power tools. (Grounds only)
3. Possession of a valid drivers license (not suspended revoked or cancelled or disqualified from driving.

Revenue Attendant
1. Knowledge of working with money and making change.
2. Knowledge of math such as addition and subtraction.

This posting may be closed on or before 5/3/2025 upon filling the vacant position(s).

This is a Casual/Seasonal position which is a nonpension eligible position without healthcare and/or other benefits.
