Job Summary
The Jonas lab is looking to hire a parttime histology technician 515h per week) to assist with histological sectioning of tissue samples in paraffin blocks.Our translational laboratory works with a variety of tumor tissues. The successful candidate will be independently responsible for sectioning FFPE tissue blocks on a microtome and collecting serial sections.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Sectioning of tumor tissues in FFPE paraffin blocks
- Collection of serial sections from paraffin blocks
- Sample embedding and trimming as needed
- Occasionally there may also be frozen samples for sectioning
- The successful candidate must have extensive previous experience in histological sectioning and tissue collection of FFPE tissues on a standard microtome.
- Experience with frozen sectioning is desired but not required.
- Experience with other histological skills such as tissue embedding is beneficial but not required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Clinical or Histology experience: 12 years required
