Description

Program Description: Students in grades 68 will have the special opportunity to experience what its like to be a young artist at ChiArts. For five hours a day students will be immersed in excellent professional training in the conservatory of their choice and present a final showcase/gallery reception and performances on Friday July 25th.

Creative Writing Schedule

July 7th 25th MondayFriday 9:00am2:00pm

Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Instructor compensated for 5.0 hours/day.

Job Summary:

The Creative Writing Instructor will design and deliver a curriculum incorporating story writing poetry and other literary concepts for daily classes to students in grades 68. The instructor will organize and host engaging and fun afternoon activities relating to creative writing and prepare students for a culminating showcase on Friday July 25th. In addition instructors will serve as role models and mentors for ChiArts student apprentices who are seriously interested in gaining experience in teaching and sharing through the arts. Students will finish camp with pieces they could use for the ChiArts audition process.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to commit to working for the entire 3 weeks of camp July 7th25th MondayFriday 9:00am2:00pm as well as an info session ahead of time (date TBD)
  • Experience in middle school curriculum development and working with middle school students is preferred
  • Required to submit a curriculum map before camp
  • Required to submit requested materials before camp
  • Must be enthusiastic energetic and have outstanding communication skills
  • Organization leadership and a dedication to working with children is essential
  • Commitment to sharing and learning through the arts and the ChiArts mission
  • Excellent classroom management skills
